Jeff Co. GOP chairwoman censured for actions taken without consent of executive committee

The Jefferson County Republican Party’s executive committee has censured Chairwoman Nancy Pallozzi, a press release from the organization and received by the Rocky Mountain Voice reads.

The executive committee met on Thursday, June 13, to discuss recent actions of the chairwoman, the release reads.

“The committee voted to censure the chair[woman] due to her failure to seek the authority of the executive committee prior to taking actions in regards to Colorado [Republican Party] Chair[man] Dave Williams,” the statement on Jefferson County Republican Party letterhead reads.

It continues: “This action concerns only the matter of the chair[woman] acting without authority and is not to be construed as an endorsement of, or opposition to, statements or actions of any other party.”

Pallozzi had gathered signatures from a quarter of the membership of the party’s state central committee, she told the Colorado Springs Gazette, although the executive committee’s statement did not detail if that was the action concerned. It would have been enough support to call a special meeting of the body to consider whether to remove him, that Gazette story reads.

“We’ve got what we need,” Pallozzi said in the Gazette story. “Now, it’ll be the state central committee that takes over and decides what happens.”

She indicated executive committees in Mesa, Garfield, Delta, La Plata, Pueblo, Otero, Huerfano, Las Animas, Eagle, Teller, La Plata and Elbert were supporting the effort, the Gazette story read.

“Rest assured, your State GOP leadership team looks forward to having this debate anytime,” Williams wrote in an email, and as reported in the Gazette article.

The article continued with Williams’ email statement: “We especially look forward to the list of so-called Republicans who plan on signing the petition for a special meeting to defend the Pride Month agenda,” Williams wrote, “as we will be sure to publicize it and notify all convention delegates and their respective central committees of their support for Pride Month.”
