Devotional: The power of words to transform and lift us up

In recent months, we’ve been surrounded by a clamor of voices from entertainment, religion and politics. While some messages uplift and inspire, many can lead us astray.

It’s crucial to remember that words might seem innocent on their own, but when woven together into thoughts, they can dramatically shape our world —- for the better or worse. Words are more than mere symbols; they carry the weight of thoughts that can transform our lives. If we truly seek healthy change, we must embrace God’s thoughts, which are thoughts of love, peace and hope, and can guide us toward a brighter future for all.

This is why it’s essential to let impactful words enter our minds and shape our thinking. True transformation happens when we consciously embrace life-giving words, instead of passively accepting the negativity surrounding us.

For many, especially Christians, the power of words should be evident. The Bible says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits” (Proverbs 18:21). Our words can either heal or harm; there’s no middle ground —- only life or death! Every word we hear or speak has the potential to nourish our spirits or poison our hearts. It’s a profound responsibility we carry. Life-giving words bring hope, joy, peace and love. They are words of encouragement, affirmation and truth.

God understands the power of words and uses them to uplift and transform us. When we align our thoughts with His and accept His words in faith, we embark on a path toward excellence. Embracing God’s words in faith means believing in their truth and power, even when circumstances may seem otherwise. This journey begins with the words we hear from God, the words we speak to Him, the affirmations we tell ourselves and the encouragement we receive from others. Embracing these powerful words can lead to transformative changes that cultivate excellence in our lives.

To help you create a life of purpose and healthy living, I encourage you to adopt a simple, yet powerful, practice used by many successful individuals. Write down the words that reflect the life you aspire to live. For example, I wrote, “I exist to guide people to self-understanding through Christ and help them discover their God-given purpose.” Commit to reading your words daily for 40 days, believing in their power and allowing them to shape your choices. Like me, you’ll transform your life in extraordinary ways as God’s Spirit works miracles in your mind and heart.

Remember, as God’s Word instructs us, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable —- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy —- think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).

Now is the time to take action! We can choose words that empower us, write them down, and begin our journey toward a transformed life. Let’s embrace the power of words together and take control of our destinies.

With words on our minds, I urge every Christian to consider this crucial word — VOTE! Your voice is powerful, and your vote has the potential to shape our future. Less than half of church-goers exercise this right. Let’s commit to this responsibility and ensure our voices are heard in this important moment. Again, no excuses — VOTE!
