From the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C., to the Golden Dome in Denver, Republicans serving Colorado paused Wednesday not just to take time with family, but to turn to Twitter/X to communicate with constituents on the occasion of Christmas and the beginning of Hanukkah.
“Jesus’ coming is good news for all people,” U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert said in a video she posted. “Believers and unbelievers, saints and sinners, Republicans and Democrats. Jesus came to this world to save imperfect people like you and me.”
Boebert is currently serving in the 3rd District on the Western Slope, but in January will begin serving the 4th District in Northern Colorado and on the Eastern Plains.
Jeff Hurd, who is the U.S. representative-elect replacing Boebert in the 3rd District, was pictured with his family in a Tweet in which he wrote “warmest Christmas greetings from our family to yours” and quoted John 1:4-5.
Similarly, Gabe Evans, the U.S. representative-elect for the 8th District in Northern Colorado, was shown in a Tweet with his family and a message reading: “Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth, peace and goodwill to all. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!”
Jeff Crank, who has been elected in the 5th District to follow U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, took the opportunity to speak to the military population of his district with a Tweet that read: “Great news for Colorado military families this Christmas Eve as Children’s Hospital Colorado will continue to serve military families despite outrageously low reimbursement rates from DoD. Thanks @ChildrensColo for this. I will work with you to fix.”
State Rep. Ryan Armagost, who is preparing to begin his service as Colorado House minority whip in the 75th session of the Colorado General Assembly, was among the few to direct a message to law enforcement, other emergency responders, military and nurses working the holiday.
“To those who are out protecting us this Christmas… Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!,” Armagost wrote. “You are all appreciated…”
In his first Twitter post in 14 days, Colorado House Assistant Minority Leader Ty Winter, who represents Southeastern Colorado, wrote, “Merry Christmas!,” and quoted Luke 2:10-11.
Matt Soper, who represents District 54 on the Western Slope in the Colorado House, offered greetings through a series of three posts and a retweet of Pete Hegseth.
Dusty Johnson, who will be the new House District 63 representative on the Northeastern Plains in the 75th session, posted: “Merry Christmas to you and your family!” and, like Evans, shared Luke 2:14.
