In a shifting of chairs, Republican parties have new leadership in many Colorado counties

The only constant in life is said to be change. That certainly is the way it may feel for those in a number of county Republican parties around Colorado.

From El Paso to Weld to Washington counties and other places dotting the map, new party leadership has been put in place during biennial reorganization, and more could be.

In Adams County, both U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert and Gabe Evans spoke before Laura Garcia-Pascoe was elected as the new county Republican chairwoman.

“Let’s win big together this cycle,” wrote Boebert in a Facebook post and photo with Garcia-Pascoe, after her election.

On Monday, during his weekly grassroots call, former Sen. Kevin Lundberg noted Sandra Aste had been named the Larimer County chair.

“I am really excited about this new position,” Aste said during the call, noting her campaign slogan to ‘Stay with Aste.’ She advanced from vice chair to chair. “The team we have is amazing. I’m excited for everyone elected. We’re looking forward to good things, to Red things in Larimer County.”

She is married to “Uncle Ben” Aste, who has previously campaigned as a county commissioner.

Lundberg noted a county party chair position is a volunteer role, with a heavy workload.

In Southern Colorado, Ken Davis was elected as the new chair of the El Paso Republicans. In Western Colorado, Michael Perkovich is the new chair in Ouray County.

In Eastern Colorado, former state representative and congressional candidate Richard Holtorf is the new chair of the Washington County Republicans. Next door, in Morgan County, reorganization was slated for Monday, Feb. 10, where at least a “newish” chair would be elected. The last regularly elected chair was Dusty Johnson, who resigned to serve in Holtorf’s former Colorado House seat.

Along the Front Range, there are also a number of counties which have elected new leadership. In Douglas County, Robin Webb is the new chair, while in Denver County Elizabeth Tovado is the chair. In Jefferson County, Rich Wyatt is the new chairman, and in Weld County Hunter Rivera has advanced to chair in a county neighboring Adams, with a new chair.
