The grand opening of Rocky Mountain Voice’s first regional Town Center newsroom and community hub will take place Wednesday, March 12, Founder Heidi Ganahl announced this week.
“Rocky Mountain Voice was built to inspire a citizen-driven community and collaboration — online and on the ground,” Ganahl said. “We’re excited to open our first Town Center in Fort Morgan.”
The Northeast Colorado Town Center is located at 528 State St. in Fort Morgan, which locals will recall formerly as the historic State Armory, created by an act of Colorado’s General Assembly in 1921, and presently as the “eLc” Community Complex. It is positioned to served Adams and Weld counties to the west and Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties to the east.
The grand opening is from 4 to 6 p.m. and all are invited, Ganahl said. Rocky Mountain Voice will celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony in coordination with the Fort Morgan Chamber of Commerce. Parking is available on street and in the north parking lot.
Rocky Mountain Voice was founded in January 2024, by Ganahl, and the opening of the Town Center is a milemarker in Ganahl’s business plan “to empower communities through reliable and truthful news collaboration,” an announcement reads.
Ganahl was a 2022 candidate for Colorado governor and was elected as a University of Colorado regent in 2016. She launched Camp Bow Wow in 2000, North America’s largest pet care franchise when she sold it in 2014. Ganahl has served on Colorado’s School Safety and Youth in Crisis Committee, in addition to roles on a variety of other boards and committees.
“What does a Town Center look like? A place where people gather, connect and engage in meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most,” Ganahl said.
Brian Porter is the editor and publisher of the Rocky Mountain Voice. Based in Morgan County, he spent nearly a decade as the publisher of The Fort Morgan Times and Sterling Journal-Advocate daily newspapers and weekly newspapers in Akron and Brush. He also served for several years on the Colorado Press Association’s board of directors, and in 2023-24 as the organization’s president. In addition to his 30-year media career, Porter also served on the Brush Rodeo board of directors and in sales with the Colorado Farm Show, among many other boards, committees and community roles.
“The Rocky Mountain Voice is the people’s news and information platform,” Porter said, “and now the people have a Town Center which will allow us to interact with you on a personal level. We invite you to attend the grand opening, or just drop in.”
Rocky Mountain Voice is based upon the principles of building trust through truth, inspiring the next generations of Coloradans, and standing as a pro-citizen, pro-liberty and Pro-Colorado ‘Voice’, through integration of a variety of voices, the website’s mission reads.
Drake Hunter serves as the Rocky Mountain Voice ambassador for North and Northeast Colorado. He’s the senior pastor at Elevating Life Church in Fort Morgan and the founder of Four-Dimensional Living. The first regional Town Center being planted in the Northeast region is a result of Hunter’s coordination, Ganahl said.
“Heidi’s vision to create regional hubs to serve freedom-loving Coloradans concerned with government overreach, over-regulation and the future becomes a reality through Drake’s commitment to the vision,” Porter said. “We’re excited for the opportunity to introduce the Eastern Colorado community to your Town Center.”
