Democrat Rep’s Daughter Arrested in Grisly Assault Investigation

The daughter of a Colorado state representative was arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Denver last Wednesday.

Nefretarie Lockley, 29, was arrested on six felony charges, including second degree attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and felony menacing, after allegedly stabbing a woman in the back with a knife in the 3900 block of North Elati Street, according to a probable cause affidavit provided by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Lockley is the daughter of Rep. Naquetta Ricks, the legislator confirmed in a written statement on Tuesday afternoon.
Lockley will have her first court hearing on the charges on Wednesday morning.

According to the arrest affidavit from Denver Police, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 3900 North Elati around 7:30 p.m. on June 11.

At the scene, they found a woman with a stab wound in her back. The victim’s husband identified a Black female, wearing a blue hoodie, as the person who stabbed his wife.

Officers found the hoodie in a trash can in front of 3910 N. Elati, and, as they were checking security cameras in the building, Lockley exited the building and asked officers if someone had called them.

They asked her if she was involved in the altercation — and she said “yes,” the arrest affidavit said.
When searched, officers found a black box cutter in her front hoodie pocket and a large kitchen knife in a blue bag she had on her person.
A witness on the scene also identified Lockley. She admitted, after officers read her Miranda rights, that she knew the victim and that they had been involved in an earlier altercation. She then admitted assaulting the victim with the knife, the affidavit said.
The victim was transported to Denver Health in critical condition.

According to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records, Lockley was arrested for second degree assault in Johnstown in 2018 but that charge was dismissed by the district attorney. She was arrested in 2022 and 2023 in Houston for criminal trespass and fraud. The disposition of those charges is unknown.
Bond was set for Lockley at $100,000.

In a statement, Ricks asked for privacy.
