As a pastor, I often face pressure to align with a political party. People want to know if I lean toward the red or blue party. My response is simple but meaningful: “I don’t align with red or blue, only with what is true!”
This commitment to truth is the only loyalty that truly matters. It’s a source of empowerment and confidence in our faith, knowing that we stand on the side of truth and integrity, regardless of political pressures.
Defined in the Bible, white symbolizes purity, as seen in the “white robe saints” — representing people of all cultures, genders (male & female) and ages in the Christian faith (Revelation 7:13-14). Therefore, as a Christian, I identify with red, white and blue, not just in a political sense but more significantly as a Child of God deeply immersed in my faith and extensively connected to life. Red symbolizes life and sacrifice, while blue represents the skies we live under as we trust God. These colors unite to describe the one actual color of God: purity, represented by white.
Proverbs 11:3 emphasizes the importance of honesty and integrity over deception, especially in politics. Those who hold onto truth and integrity stand out like the colors red, white, and blue. They live with conservative and liberated minds and hearts through their sound faith in Jesus Christ (John 14:6). This unity and strength in our faith, living with both conservative and liberated minds, is a powerful force in a world where truth is often compromised. A sound mind and heart reflect inner strength, discipline and moral judgment from a divine perspective (Proverbs 3:4-6). In 2 Timothy 1:7, the phrase “sound mind” conveys these traits, including choice, emphasizing the Holy Spirit’s power in shaping our thoughts and being, allowing us to be a voice of truth fueled by God’s Love.
Amidst the ongoing concerns about the honesty of politicians and public officials, it is crucial for individuals, especially those “white robe saints,” to exemplify values and principles that are as intense and unwavering as the color red. These values and principles should transcend mere adherence to rules, policies, and protocols. This requires holding oneself to a higher standard and aligning actions with spiritual beliefs guided by unwavering faith. This faith, which dispels darkness and often a blue disposition or attitude in the political world where some have strayed from God’s truth, brings clarity and truth through the all-powerful God, bringing red, white, and true back under God’s blue sky.
Next time someone asks about your political affiliations, remember it’s not just about red or blue. It’s about embracing the true colors of authenticity, integrity and faith. Just like the flag, stand tall in the red, white and blue of your values and beliefs, letting your true colors shine — that is, the red of life and sacrifice, the white of purity and truth, and the true confidence in the power of God under the blue sky of being true.
Remember, it’s not about the colors you wear but the truth you bear. Let us all be inspired and motivated to live by the values of authenticity and integrity of our faith and be true to the red, white and blue. Let this call to action inspire all of us to live by our divine values and let our true colors shine, regardless of the political climate of the red, white, and blue!
