From the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains and from Fort Collins to Trinidad, on Super Tuesday former President Donald Trump garnered broad support from Colorado Republicans across the state.

He won 57 of the state’s 64 counties, with more than half of those counties providing him at least 75% support. He won 20 counties – mostly in Eastern Colorado – with at least 80% support in a race that largely came down to Trump against former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Only 3.3% of Republican ballots supported someone other than Trump or Haley.

The unofficial ballot count gave Trump 517,884 votes across Colorado to secure 63.3% of the vote, with Haley taking 273,809 for 33.45% support on an evening where Republicans in sixteen states and one territory weighed in on their choice for President.

Trump drew the most favor in the southwestern Colorado border county of Dolores, with 88.6% of voters favoring the former President over Haley. It was the only county in which Haley did not garner at least 10% support. In Baca County, located in the far southeast corner of the state bordering Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle, Trump earned 87.8% support. He gathered at least 85% support in five other far Eastern Plains counties and in Moffat County, in the northwest corner of the state bordering Utah and Wyoming.

Showing the preference the Eastern Plains has toward Trump in what one poll called “MAGA Country”, 10 other counties in that region gave him at least 80% support. Two of those are leading Eastern Plains population counties of Logan and Morgan Counties, both going 81.4% for Trump.

Trump also fared well in five key high-population counties of Adams, El Paso, Mesa, Pueblo and Weld, where 36.7% of his votes were derived. He grabbed a high total of 73,727 votes in El Paso County. Trump also earned another 129,412 votes in Arapahoe, Jefferson and Larimer Counties. In those eight counties combined, Trump gathered  319,268 votes for 61.6% of his haul on Election Night.

Haley won seven counties on Election Night in Colorado, with the largest haul coming in Denver County where she collected 20,699 votes and 53.3% support following an appearance she made there in the final days before the election. She also picked up another 16,950 votes in Boulder County, with her second highest level of support at 55.65%. Pitkin County on the Western Slope provided Haley with her best performance of 58.6% support. Haley collected 15.8% of her support from the seven counties she won. Her highest vote haul was 38,012 in Jefferson County, where she earned 38.6% of the vote.

Two anomalies on Election Night were in Eagle and Routt County, where neither county provided a majority of 50% or more of the vote to either leading Republican candidate. In Eagle County, Trump gathered 3,205 votes to the 3,076 for Haley, giving Trump 49.6% support and Haley 47.6%. In Routt County, Haley gathered 1,959 votes to the 1,928 for Trump, giving Haley 48.7% support and Trump 47.9%.

In the Democratic Party Presidential primary election, President Joe Biden gathered 446,395 votes for 83.5% support. The option of a non-committed delegate ranked second, being selected by 43,439 voters, or 8.1% of all those who voted in the party’s primary.

The total turnout was 1,361,999 of 3,785,419 registered voters for one of the two major party primaries, representing 36% of all registered voters.
