Rocky Mountain Voice

The goal of publishing commentaries is to elevate local voices, inform readers, and
invite healthy debate that grows the RMV community.

HOW TO SUBMIT A COMMENTARY:

Now, let’s talk commentaries.

What’s a commentary? It’s your opinion or analysis on an issue you care about.
Keep it grounded, clear, and useful to Colorado readers. Aim for a strong point of
view backed by specifics.

So, now that you’re ready to weigh in, what do we need from you?

Send it to us. Email your piece to [email protected]. Include
everything in one message so it’s easy to review.

Preferred method. Share your commentary via Google Docs with edit access
enabled—it’s the easiest way for us to make light edits while keeping your voice
intact.

Hit the length. 600+ words is the sweet spot. We generally don’t run pieces over
1,200 words.

Add helpful extras. Include links (websites, YouTube, etc.), photos (with a photo
credit), and any event or org details that add context. A flyer/graphic or even a
Facebook page is great if readers should go there next.

– Tell us who you are. Drop in a 2–3 sentence bio about you or your organization.

– Expect a light edit. We do light-touch editing for clarity and typos and keep your
voice intact. We’re not heavy-handed; we fix what obviously needs fixing.

Timing. Turnaround can take a couple of days depending on workload—send
early if it’s tied to an event date.

What will your first commentary be? Speak from experience, stick to facts, and
make your case. We’re here to help you be heard.
