Strict Colorado Firearm Laws Coincide with Record Homicide Increase

By Awr Hawkins | Breitbart News Data from Ammoland News indicates Colorado witnessed an exponential increase in firearm homicides after embracing a state-level gun control agenda in 2013. On February 10, 2013, less than two months after the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Breitbart News noted that Colorado Democrats were declaring war on the Second Amendment. That war included bans on “high capacity” magazines, requirements for universal background checks, fees for existing background checks, and allowing victims of gun violence to sue firearm manufacturers for the misuse of weapons. Since then, Colorado Democrats’ push for gun control has continued unabated. Most recently, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed a semiautomatic ban that repres...

New Colorado laws raise stakes in domestic abuse response

BY BRANDON RICHARD | DENVER 7 DENVER — More than 200 new state laws will take effect on Wednesday, including laws that provide additional protections for survivors of domestic abuse. Denver7 dug into one of the new laws and spoke with community members to find out how it will address a problem they say is long overdue for a solution. Eunice Brownlee is a survivor of domestic abuse. While she was never physically abused, she told Denver7 she endured constant emotional and financial abuse and was afraid of losing custody of her daughter. “There were all kinds of stuff that happened, and our life became very challenging,” Brownlee said. “One of the things that most people don't understand is that coercive control is the thing that keeps people trapped in relationships b...

Critics Warn of Blackouts and Rising Costs as Polis Accelerates Green Agenda

By Sherrie Peif | Complete Colorado DENVER — Information obtained by Complete Colorado shows that Gov. Jared Polis continues to double down on a 100 percent renewable energy plan for the state by 2040, despite late last year admitting his current plan is already on a dangerous course for energy ratepayers. In a letter obtained by Complete Colorado in October 2024, Governor Polis admitted he’s concerned Colorado is on track for the same large rate increases that are happening wherever “beneficial electrification” is tried, if the transition is not “carefully managed.” Yet, on July 16, the governor’s Clean Energy Office (CEO) held a Zoom meeting with as many 100 “stakeholders” to discuss further legislation in the coming year to push Colorado towards full decarbonization of the stat...

All eggs sold in Colorado starting in 2025 must be cage-free, add ‘organic’ labeling

By Aiga Petelo | KKCO-TV 11 Starting Jan. 1st, 2025 all eggs sold in Colorado must be from a cage-free facility. All egg producers in Colorado who house more than 3,000 egg-laying hens will be required to comply with the cage-free egg rule requirements. Additionally, all eggs and egg products for sale in Colorado will need to show they are compliant by including “CO-COM,” “organic”, or “cage-free” on their label. “As Executive Director of the Colorado Egg Producers, I am proud of the consistent commitment our industry has shown to the well-being of hens, both with conventional housing and now with the transition to cage-free systems. Colorado Egg Producers members have always prioritized responsible and humane practices and the upcoming cage-free law in 2025 is a natural...

New rules to address bad child protection actors who may go undetected from county to county

By Jennifer Brown | The Colorado Sun A child protection caseworker in Colorado who gets caught falsifying records or lying about checking on children in one county can get a job in another county. And then another. Under state regulations, if there is no criminal case, no one has to know about the past behavior — not the caseworker’s potential new employer or even the children and parents whose records were falsified. It’s a gap in the system that has concerned child and family advocates for years. After a string of high-profile cases of child protection workers fabricating reports, state officials are now working to strengthen the law.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE COLORADO SUN
