The ski runs above the mountain town of Telluride, Colo., sat eerily empty on Saturday. Chair lifts hung as motionless as icicles. Tourists slumped beside outdoor fire pits, trying not to think about the money they had spent on ski vacations now upended by a labor dispute. “This is the first time I’ve seen snow in six years,” Alexander Caro, 23, who flew in from Miami with his family, said as he looked hungrily at the base of the ski mountain, now blocked off by “closed” signs. Telluride is a ski town of around 2,600 year-round residents in San Miguel County, located in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Heavy rain, mudslides over weekend wreak havoc in Telluride area

By Jesse Sarles | CBS Colorado Some roads and mountain passes were closed near Telluride on Monday morning after heavy weekend storms in western Colorado resulted in flooding and mudslides. The storms also caused a closure of Highway 85 between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. The passes that were closed were Bear Pass and Imogene Pass.
