NRCC will invest $2.327 million in 8th District ad buy to support Evans

How much ad space will $2.327 million buy in the Denver market? If you reside in or near the 8th District, you are about to find out.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, fresh off Gabe Evans 55-point win in the primary election, announced Thursday the reinforcements are coming in an effort to prevent Democrat Yadira Caraveo’s re-election.

The $2.327 million is third, falling behind NRCC investments of $2.5 million in Los Angeles, Calif., and $6/06 million in Portland, Ore.

“In 2023, the NRCC set a goal to expand the House Republican Majority by recruiting top tier
candidates in Democrat-held seats, while at the same time shoring up our most vulnerable members,” NRCC Independent Expenditure Director Tom Erickson wrote in a press statement.

The 8th District, formed shortly before Caraveo’s 2022 election, has been among the top targets for the NRCC for more than a year.

The NRCC will invest $45.7 million in what it described as a first wave of ad reservations for the election cycle.

“The NRCC committed from Day 1 to not just hold our majority, but go on offense to grow our majority,” NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson. “Today, we are putting our money where our mouth is.”

The funds will be invested toward television and digital marketing, Erickson said. The investment includes Spanish-language buys. The NRCC announced congressional district targets in 22 battleground markets. Thirteen of the 22 districts are presently held by Democrats.

“By contrast, a vast majority of the DCCC’s initial reservation is dedicated to defending their
embattled members,” Erickson wrote. “The takeaway: as Joe Biden’s numbers plummet – fueled by chaos at the border, on college campuses, on community streets, and in family wallets – the map is moving toward Republicans, providing opportunities to flip seats from Alaska to Maine.”

The funds will allow candidates, such as Evans, to expand reach and increase messaging in the general election.

“This initial investment gives our candidates firepower to remind voters of the Biden border, crime, and inflation crises wreaking havoc on their daily live,” Hudson said. “Extreme Democrats who enabled the chaos and malaise should polish up their resumes – they will be unemployed soon.”
