Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) downplayed a possible 2024 bid with the centrist organization No Labels on Monday, saying he plans to “win as a Democrat.”

When asked about the chances of joining the group’s ticket if it was interested, Phillips said, “I’m a Democrat — I have been a lifelong Democrat.”

Phillips told host Brian Kilmeade, “I’m a Democrat. I’m going to run as a Democrat, and I’m going to win as a Democrat.”

Speculation ramped up last weekend over his joining a future No Labels ticket when he didn’t rule the possibility out. Phillips defended the organization against charges it would act as a spoiler to elect former President Donald Trump.

“If they put someone at the top of the ticket who could actually drive votes from Donald Trump, every Democrat in the United States of America should be celebrating it. They haven’t made that determination,” he told the New York Times.
