Obamas, Bernie Sanders, grandsons of JFK, Carter to speak in tonight’s DNC

As the Democratic National Convention moves into its second evening, Democrats are pulling out all the stops with attention-grabbing headliners.

In another sure-to-miss Primetime speech, former President Barack Obama is scheduled to speak at 10 p.m. On the first day of the convention, President Joe Biden did not begin speaking until 11:15 p.m. on the East Coast. Speeches to the DNC membership can be viewed on most major news networks.

Setting up Obama’s speech will be the assembly address by Douglas Emhoff, the husband to presidential nominee Kamala Harris, and by Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, who some Republicans expected to become the Democrats’ nominee for President, not Harris.

Earlier in the evening, Sen. Chuck Schumer will speak, as will Sen. Bernie Sanders. Additionally, Democrats will hear from two legacy members of the party: Jason Carter, the grandson of President Jimmy Carter, and Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy.

The theme of the evening is “A Bold Vision for America’s Future”.
