Graham: A vote for Trump is a vote to restore freedom and opportunity in America

By Ellen M. Graham | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice

I’m a single suburban soccer mom and I’m voting for Donald J. Trump. Well, my children play baseball and golf, but you get it.

Raised staunchly conservative in Northern Colorado, I was liberal for more years than I’d like to admit, but it’s 2024 and I have a full-time job, two teenagers, including one in private school thanks to more failed public schools.  I own a middle-class home in a safe neighborhood.  Launching my sons into opportunity is my American Dream.

We can no longer run away from what our country has become.  Just look at the streets of downtown Denver with the needles, feces and encampments.  Oh well, big city problems, they say.  Go to Aurora, long a bastion for legal immigrants and the working class, where now it’s OK by 9 News standards for just a few apartment buildings to be taken over by a violent gang of illegals from Venezuela.  Just a few years ago people cheered for burning down cities because Black Lives Mattered, but now Aurora lives don’t matter at all.

We are at a crossroads.  Even if we can stem the illegal immigration and its vast cost, the crime, the inflation and the withering American Dream, it calls us to one choice on this ballot.  We must unite behind a man and a team with a vision to do it. And that man is Donald Trump.

Perhaps more impressive than Trump’s brilliant work days at McDonald’s and trash hauling, he has amassed a dream team that gives me confidence he can overcome the problems of his first administration.  Laser focused on “WE THE PEOPLE” . . .and notably, not the problems overseas.  America has become the global enabler and it is time to step back and focus on ourselves.  The cat ladies know all about this, they call it self-care.  Trump articulates this vision in every rally and that’s what people love.

Trump is the last man standing between a tattered vision of what our founding fathers wanted for us.  The single most critical issue is closing our southern border. Whether the Dems have wanted to import new voters and virtue signal their compassion for the huddled masses of military-aged men, some rapists and murderers; or it is a planned invasion in slow-motion, a military of needy, lost, often criminal people with nothing to give and everything to take, our border must be secured.  We are not a sovereign nation without a border.  We have had some of the worst of South and Central America’s criminals come into our country and it will take decades to eliminate the threat that has been created. So, while Denver Public Schools teaches your kids that Jihad is a peaceful struggle within one’s self (I can’t make this up), Jihad might be living down the street and it doesn’t share your American Dream.  The flood of illegals is a tax on each and every one of our personal resources, opportunity and safety and it must stop.

And so must the ENDLESS foreign wars.  For all the fearmongering that Trump would bring World War III, he brought peace and stability.  He walked into North Korea like a badass.  He brokered the Abraham Accords and he set Putin back on his heels.  I don’t want ONE more American, including my sons, dying for another country’s interests and borders while we languish and decay.  It is an infuriating irony that we don’t protect our own border, while we send endless dollars to fight for Ukraine’s.  American politicians love the war machine and the childless cat ladies do too because it isn’t their children. It’s an endless virtue signal that is anything but virtuous.

Meanwhile, America has evolved into a nanny security force for the rest of the world who happily sucks our teats dry while our own citizens are homeless, less healthy and educated than ever, struggling to buy groceries.  We fund and meddle in everyone else’s security while our educational outcomes decline and our youngest generation fails to find purpose outside of a sinister Marxist movement in the schools and universities WE pay for.

We need and deserve a thriving economy. This inflation has been brutal.  Homeownership, a central stake in the American dream, is slipping away. Inflation robs Americans of choices, options and their personal agency.  As a single parent and homeowner, I cannot emphasize enough how the cost of living soaring at least 40% in the last few years has impacted our lives and my own well being. Millions of parents are having the same worries, sleepless nights and trying to make their flat-lined salaries go as far as they did four years ago and they just don’t.  When you have people who understand Americans debt like Dave Ramsey endorsing Trump, you should listen.

Furthermore, as expensive as Colorado might be until we can restore some legislative balance, a Trump economy will be a God-send.  As a single mother and provider, I am dreaming of an economy humming with confidence and creativity.  I’m dreaming of a country for my sons to launch into building, creating and innovating.  An America brimming with possibility that sets our imaginations on fire so that we become people inspired, innovative and purposed.

Even though most die-hard never Trumpers must admit that the Supreme Court we inherited from Trump is vastly different from what Hillary Clinton would have delivered.  Our Supreme Court is an inheritance we leave our children and their children.  A packed court is a corrupt court and you better believe Harris will pack the courts.  People like Jack Phillips need a Supreme court that isn’t loaded with activists but are sober and the brightest of constitutional scholars.

Our health is shattered.  We are riddled with heart disease, diabetes and auto-immune disorders. Our children are plagued with asthma, allergies, autism, and ADHD.   77% of American youth between the ages of 17 and 24 are ineligible for military service, because they are too physically unfit, according to a widely reported 2020 Pentagon study.  We deserve better and we deserve accountability from Big Food and Big Pharma.  The wellness movement RFK Jr. can catalyze in this country would be a farming boom thatbenefiting our health, economy and future.  Trump’s partnership with RFK Jr. gives me hope that we will finally dismantle the industries complicit in making us sick.

Western Civilization is on the brink of destruction.  There has always been good versus evil in our world and there are many entities eager to enslave us.  A vote for Trump is a vote for freedom, a thumb at the nose of the entitled, bloated elite overlords we’ve inherited from years of TOO MUCH government.  The family, marriage, children, the churches and synagogues, once the foundation of a great society have become the target of much malignment.  Our families, our sons and men have been torn down to make the childless cat ladies and the people who identify as cats feel better about themselves.  Marxism dominates our schools, our therapists offices and leaks into every facet of life.  A vote for Trump is our refusal to give the culturally restless and confused the moral highroad in America and control of our lives.  Vote Trump for a country that values marriage, family, babies, elderly and all walks of life.  In Trump’s America all lives matter, not just the victim mentality-ridden “protected” classes.

And finally, we are guaranteed that a Harris administration will bring censorship, likely loss of our 2nd Amendment and more. Our Bill of Rights will be in shambles.  You do NOT have to love Trump to love freedom.  You just have to pick the best advocate for the freedom you love.

Once and for all, we are not deplorables, garbage, clingers or racists.  (What did I leave out?)  We are Americans who want to leave our children the opportunity we inherited.  Cats included. Let’s Make America Great Again.
