Madison: Efficiency in government, an oxymoron!

By John Alexander Madison | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice

A U.S. senator, Chris Coons (D-DE), said again he is “amused” that it will take two billionaires to oversee President-elect Donald Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency! (D.O.G.E)

He is amused that it would take two people to run this new department. But the average American patriot is hardly laughing that it takes $200 billion and 4,400 federal employees to run a useless and inefficient Department of Education. If you ask me, I’d suggest hiring two well-paid people every time we can eliminate 4,400 federal employees from our ever-expanding and bloated federal bureaucracy…one agency or department after another.

The fact is these two billionaires won’t be drawing a salary from our federal taxpayer dollars…so let’s hire 10 more, just like them. The government should be run more like a business and, together, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy know how to run a business probably better than just about anyone else… there can be no argument about that.

With this decision alone, aside from many excellent staffing decisions he has already made, I’d say our President-elect is off to an excellent start…and he doesn’t even return to the Oval Office for another two months.

I have some advice for Sen. Coons. He should resign immediately and offer to raise money for Joe Biden’s presidential library, which will be filled with memorabilia related to all the accomplishments of the Biden-Harris administration. That should take about three or four days.

And then, I think he should convince an ice cream shop, along one of Delaware’s beautiful beach boardwalks, to share some space for the Biden library. There should be more than enough space for that.

That’s my two cents and, guess what…I won’t charge the government for my opinion.

In fact, I’d even offer to be D.O.G.E.’s third “employee,” working alongside Elon and Vivek for no salary, starting tomorrow. Together we will eliminate all unnecessary federal spending programs and grants, balance our annual budgets and begin reducing our unsustainable federal debt.

Elon and Vivek…you have my telephone number. Please give me a call in the morning, any time after 7 a.m. MST.
