A Syrian-born Palestinian activist and former Columbia University graduate student was arrested on Saturday and will reportedly have his green card revoked because of his involvement in radical left-wing protests supporting Hamas.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” According to his attorney, Khalil is a permanent resident with a green card.Federal law prohibits providing “material support or resources” to any designated terrorist organizations.
