DENVER (KDVR) — The Department of Veterans Affairs announced over $21 million in grants will be awarded to two Colorado organizations to help veterans in the state “who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.”
The department said Thursday that the recipients of the grants are Rocky Mountain Human Services, awarded over $9 million, and the Volunteers of America Colorado Branch, awarded over $11 million.
According to the VA, the grants will fund the two organizations throughout the 2026 fiscal year as they provide supportive services to veterans, including housing and housing counseling, health care, financial planning services, childcare and transportation.
“Supportive services like childcare, housing counseling and financial planning can be important catalysts for preventing or resolving homelessness,” said Sunaina Kumar-Giebel, director of Veterans Integrated Service Network 19, in a press release. “These grants will help bring crucial support to thousands of Veterans in need across the nation.”
