These are the times that try men’s souls

Do all Democrats hate the country? Surely not.

Do all Democrats hate Donald J. Trump? Of course not. But many — perhaps most — do!

This hate has got to stop!

What has Trump-hate led to? During the first administration, the hatred led to frivolous attempts to impeach him in 2019. Frivolous because the evidence being used to justify an impeachment was MANUFACTURED by leftist Democrats who hate Trump and wanted him to fail.

This Trump-hate continues to lead numerous renegade judges to create needless injunctions to Trump-backed measures that would greatly benefit our country and our culture.

As of April 21, lawfaremedia.org states there are 316 active cases challenging Trump administration actions…including the ridiculous injunction to prevent Trump from completing a White House Ballroom — at his personal expense! — that would provide greater security for official functions.

How far does the Trump-hate extend?

Even today, there are Democrats who would like to see America fail in its war to rein in the nuclear power of a country that regularly espouses “Death to America.” Why would anyone root for Iran and against America? Answer: because winning this war could somehow benefit Trump and those who support the USA.

This Trump-hate has got to stop.

Before the dust even settled on the latest assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, there were those (Trump haters) spreading conspiracy theories that the shooting was “staged” to benefit Trump. Utter nonsense. But sadly…mournfully…agonizingly…far too many Trump-haters want to deceive Americans by pretending the truth of their hate is a fiction. Pretend it never happened…like men on the moon or the holocaust.

It was 250 years ago, Thomas Paine, one of the most eloquent proponents of democracy wrote:

“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

Paine was writing to embolden Americans in their fight for independence and freedom from Britain.

Today’s fight is not against a foreign nation. This fight — the fight for the culture of freedom — is an internal battle: Americans who favor freedom of speech, freedom of religion; who support justice; who support secure national borders…versus those who oppose these things.

Will this latest assassination attempt awaken people to the threat posed by the Trump-haters? May all Americans — Democrats, Republicans and independents — be awakened to the national threat caused by Trump-hatred. If you are among those wishing the assassination attempt had been successful…it’s time to stop and ask yourself: “What’s wrong with me? How did I wander so far from God’s goodness…as to hate anyone and wish his or her death?”
