‘We must protect our kids’: Lundberg calls for ‘all hands on deck’ to help get initiatives to the ballot

The final days are winding down in an effort by Protect Kids Colorado to collect the signatures needed to get two initiatives on the fall ballot, former Sen. Kevin Lundberg wrote Monday in an email newsletter.

Protect Kids Colorado, a coalition of grassroots citizens, worked to push Proposition 142 and 160 through the process to reach the ballot, Lundberg said. Each initiative needs 125,000 valid signatures before Wednesday, July 31.

Following is the language of each measure:

  • Prop. 142: Any public school representative who obtains information that a child enrolled in their public school is experiencing gender incongruence shall notify the child’s parents.
  • Prop. 160: Only female students, based on their biological sex at birth, may participate on any team or in a sport or athletic event designated as being for females, women or girls.

“Now is the time, we must protect our kids, and we need all hands on deck immediately,” Lundberg wrote.

A list of places where Coloradans may sign the petition is available at Protect Kids Colorado. Among those is the Thursday, Aug. 1, event at Wide Open Saloon, 5607 U.S. 85 in Sedalia, from 4-6 p.m. which will culminate in the Protect Kids Colorado celebration at 6-8 p.m. concluding the effort. It marks the final event for volunteers to submit petition packets.
