The Colorado State Patrol will release body camera footage on Monday of a deadly shootout between a trooper and a gunman.
The shooting happened on the afternoon of Sept. 7 along U.S. Highway 36 near Federal Boulevard in Adams County. On Monday CSP will share the body camera and narrate the timeline of events that took place.
CSP said Cpl. Tye Simcox was parked on the side of the road in his patrol pickup truck doing paperwork. That’s when the suspect drove past Simcox, heading eastbound in a black pickup, and opened fire from a semi-automatic handheld gun, CSP Chief Col. Matthew Packard said.
