FBI, DOJ officials with Biden-Harris admin lawyer up in prep for potential prosecutions by incoming AG Matt Gaetz

Current DOJ as well as FBI officials are reaching out to lawyers after President-elect has chosen former Rep. Matt Gaetz for US Attorney General. Some of the most senior officials in the federal justice agencies are preparing for potential prosecution during the upcoming Trump administration.

According to NBC News, after Trump’s victory over Harris, some long-time and senior-level staff at the DOJ as well as the FBI are nervous that Trump appointments such as Gaetz at the DOJ could go after them legally. The selection of Gaetz has specifically made them nervous about possible cases against them, per the outlet. Some FBI officials were “shell-shocked” by Trump’s election win. 

Trump has long promised to “drain the swamp,” and there has been no shortage of what many have called “lawfare” against him leading up to the 2024 election, leading some to believe he will seek retribution. The multiple cases against the president-elect have begun to destabilize leading up to and after he won his decisive victory against Harris.
