Rep. Boebert asks Senate Republicans to ‘just simply follow’ and support Trump’s nominees

Republicans will hold the White House and majorities in both chambers of Congress for the next two years, and U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Windsor, is calling on them to act like it.

“Right now it would be so wise for [Republicans] to lay aside their egos, not think of themselves as a leader, and just simply follow,” she said Thursday on ‘Real America’ with Dan Ball. “Follow President Trump’s lead, allow him to lead, and we will get the policy right.”

She was critical of Republicans in the upper chamber who may be considering votes against any of Mr. Trump’s nominations, such as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth or FBI Director Kash Patel. Similarly, Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville noted Thursday that Democrats stood together for Joe Biden’s cabinet.

“Not only did President Trump win the Electoral College vote, he won the popular vote,” Boebert said. “His policy is what is popular, and that is what we need to be going forward with.”

While laying claim as a “RINO Hunter” in the interview on ‘Real America’, she pledged to point Republicans in the “right” direction.

“We will continue to hold them to account, and to expose them when they are on the wrong side of the issue,” Boebert said. “[We will] have the American people express their opinions about how they want their elected representatives to vote.”

Boebert represents the 3rd District of Colorado on the Western Slope, and in January will shift to represent the 4th district in Northern Colorado and on the Eastern Plains. Her new district is often referred to as “MAGA Country”.

She has called Trump’s victory a mandate and encourages support for his full slate of nominees.

“They campaign one way and govern another,” she said of some Senate Republicans. “We see this all the time with spending. We see it all the time with unconstitutional votes, or just holding a line on the wrong side of the aisle.”

Colorado has two Democrat senators who will vote on the nominations: Michael Bennett and John Hickenlooper.

Returning to the issue of Hegseth, Boebert offered her support.

“It is the Military Industrial Complex that views Pete Hegseth as a threat, because he will fight to protect the war fighters and not warmongers,” Boebert said. “This is somebody that we need to continue to stand up for and see all the way through this confirmation process.”
