Biden admin working to effectively ban cigarettes in 11th hour proposal a ‘gift’ to cartels, expert says

By Emma Colton  | Fox News The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is moving forward with a regulatory rule in the final days of the Biden administration that would effectively ban cigarettes currently on the market in favor of products with lower nicotine levels, which could end up boosting business for cartels operating on the black market, an expert tells Fox News Digital. "Biden's ban is a gift with a bow and balloons to organized crime cartels with it, whether it's cartels, Chinese organized crime, or Russian mafia. It's going to keep America smoking, and it's going to make the streets more violent," Rich Marianos, former assistant director of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the current chair of the Tobacco Law Enforcement...

Colfax grocery store owner fed up with frequent shoplifters in the area

By Nate Belt | Fox 31 News A grocery store owner on Colfax is fed up with recurring thefts from his shop, including a repeat offender he’s looking to identify through images from his security camera. Pete Marczyk opened the first Marczyk Fine Foods in 2002, now with two locations here in Denver. At his location on East Colfax, Marczyk said shoplifting is on the rise and his store isn’t the only one on the block that’s been hit. “It’s kind of like mice in a house,” said Marczyk. “If you see one, you know you have more.” READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX 31 NEWS

‘Praying Grandma,’ convicted of misdemeanors in J9 breach, plans to deny Trump pardon, if offered

By Debbie Kelley | Denver Gazette, via The Gazette Colorado Springs-area resident Rebecca Lavrenz, who was found guilty last year on four federal misdemeanor charges related to the United States Capitol breach on Jan. 6, 2021, while demonstrators protested the 2020 presidential election results, says she will deny a pardon should President-elect Donald J. Trump offer such a deal to her after he takes office on Jan. 20. The reason? Lavrenz, who became known on social media as the “J6 Praying Grandma,” has appealed her case and, should the Washington, D.C. appellate court agree that she is not liable for the $103,000 fine levied because she was acting under rights allowed by the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment, Lavrenz says the decision would be precedent-setting. But a pardon w...

Biden releases 11 Guantanamo detainees captured after 9/11 to Oman for ‘resettlement’

By The Post Millennial On Monday, the White House announced the transfer of 11 Yemeni detainees, including two former bodyguards for Osama bin Laden, being held at the US naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba to Oman, which has agreed to help re-settle them, despite the US currently battling Houthi terrorists in Yemin. The move is the latest attempt by the Biden administration to reduce the population at the military facility. The terrorists were captured following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks but were held for over twenty years without being charged or put on trial. The Department of Defense said in a statement, "The Department of Defense announced today the resettlement of 11 Yemeni detainees from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to the Government...

Homelessness among families with children in Colorado grew by 134% in 2024, according to federal report

By Jennifer Brown | The Colorado Sun Colorado saw one of the biggest increases in the nation in the number of families who were homeless in 2024 — a 134% jump from the previous year, according to a federal report that painted the state’s homelessness crisis in a harsher light than previous regional counts.  The rise put the state among four in the country, including Illinois, Wyoming and Hawaii, where the number of homeless families more than doubled. The results have advocates in Colorado calling for further investment in prevention programs to keep more families from slipping into homelessness.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE COLORADO SUN

Exhausted Democrats plan muted resistance for Trump’s inauguration

By Emily Hallas | Washington Examiner Democrats are prepared to protest President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., ahead of and during his inauguration on Jan. 20, although their opposition is muted compared to the reactions when he took office in 2017.  The Left’s lackluster resistance comes as it has grappled with how to respond to Trump’s reelection, with Molly Murphy, a pollster for Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign, telling Democratic National Committee members last month that “the 2025 playbook cannot be the 2017 playbook.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Davidson: The legacy of Jan. 6 should be massive reform of the FBI and DOJ

By John Daniel Davidson | Commentary, The Federalist Monday marked the four-year anniversary of Jan. 6, 2021, when tens of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters demonstrated outside the U.S. Capitol and a small number of them clashed with police before entering the Capitol itself. For Democrats and the left, Jan. 6 is the events that vindicates their hatred of Donald Trump and his supporters. They would have us believe it was among the darkest days in our nation’s history, when democracy itself hung in the balance and violent insurrectionists nearly prevented the peaceful transfer of power. Many of them actually believe and still repeat, as Sen. Amy Klobuchar did on Monday, that pro-Trump rioters killed police officers on Jan. 6. Above all, they insist that President Trump was...

Mark Zuckerberg promises less censorship on Facebook as he scraps biased third-party ‘fact checkers’

By Lucas Nolan | Breitbart Mark Zuckerberg has announced major changes to Meta’s content moderation policies and practices on Facebook and Instagram, citing a desire to embrace free speech and avoid censorship. Zuckerberg’s changes begin with scrapping Facebook’s third-party “fact check” system which is notorious for its leftist bias. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, is undergoing a major overhaul of its content moderation practices. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that the company will end its fact-checking program, plagued by severe leftist bias, and replace it with a community-driven system similar to X’s Community Notes. The changes come as a response to what Zuckerberg perceives as a “cultural tipping point” towards prioritizing speech, infl...
