Dierenbach: Colorado Congressman Crow and the Afghanistan withdrawal

To protect the Democratic party, Crow lies, obfuscates and abandons principles  By Karl Dierenbach | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Dutifully following the orders of superiors is a fundamental aspect of being a good soldier.  Dutifully following the orders of party bosses is not an admirable trait in a U.S. representative.  We need our representatives to stand up for their constituents and for what is right.  When their party is wrong, our representatives should call them out, not silently stand by or, worse, actively support the injustice. This brings us to Colorado Congressman Jason Crow.  As a soldier in Afghanistan, Crow served his country, following orders and carrying out assigned missions. He should be thanked for his service.  But b...

Durango band teacher indicted on charges of sexual predator acts

By Jen Schumann, Rocky Mountain Voice On July 23, 2024, a Durango teenager told police that an adult male approached them online. He offered to engage in sexual acts with the 16-year-old.  The Durango Police Department quickly identified the suspect as 28-year-old local Benjamin Smith using information from the minor. After a swift investigation, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at Smith's home this morning, resulting in his arrest and booking for Sexual Exploitation of a Child on July 25. The Durango Police Department recently posted a press release on the indictment of Escalante Middle School band teacher Benjamin Smith. They also requested public assistance on the ongoing sexual predator investigation. Smith, once a teacher in a position of trust to D...

Campaign spending nears $4M on Prop. 127, Colorado’s ban on hunting cougars, bobcats, and lynx

By Ali Longwell  | Post Independent The two issue committees fighting over the initiative, which seeks to ban the hunting of mountain lions, bobcats and lynx in Colorado, have collectively spent around $3.8 million in the campaign so far. This is based on information filed with the Colorado Secretary of State as of Thursday, Oct. 24. There have been no additional expenditures reported by either group since Oct. 14, with the next filing deadline on Oct. 28.  Cats Aren’t Trophies, the citizen group that petitioned to get Proposition 127 on November’s ballot, has brought in slightly more funding and spent more than Colorado’s Wildlife Deserve Better, the main issue committee opposing the measure.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE POST INDEPENDENT

Wendy’s to close 140 restaurants by the end of the year

By Daniella Genovese  | Fox Business Fast food giant Wendy's is shuttering 140 underperforming locations through the end of 2024 as it looks to improve its "restaurant footprint and overall system health."  To counter the closures, though, the Ohio-based company is working to replace many of these units with "new restaurants at better locations with significantly improved sales and profitability," Wendy's CEO Kirk Tanner told analysts on its third quarter earnings call.  The company thoroughly reviewed individual restaurants to ensure they meet sales expectations and are profitable enough to support growth, and said that the locations closing are "outdated and in underperforming areas," with operating margins far below the system average, Tanner said. Griswold: After years of dehumanizing Trump supporters as deplorables, Democrats’ ‘garbage’ walkbacks ring hollow

By Kylee Griswold, Commentary | The Federalist Democrats’ problem isn’t that their leader just said the quiet part out loud. It’s that they’ve been so loud about their disdain for Trump supporters for so long. It’s been truly remarkable to watch Kamala Harris’ closing unity message get royally derailed by President Joe Biden’s Freudian slip about “garbage” just one week before the 2024 election wraps up. It’s been even more amazing to watch the regime’s foot soldiers lie so vociferously about the statement anyone with working ears could hear clearly on video — amazing because the CYA mission won’t work. After insult comic Tony Hinchcliffe joked about Puerto Rico being a floating pile of trash at a recent Trump rally — among a zillion other indiscriminate zings — Democrats tried u...

Harris campaign twists Trump comment on Liz Cheney to claim he called for her execution

By Kristina Wong | Breitbart CLAIM: Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign implied former President Donald Trump called for Liz Cheney to be put before a firing squad. FACT CHECK: False. Trump’s comments on “guns trained on her face” were about Cheney stoking foreign wars without being willing to fight in their front lines. Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign took former President Donald Trump’s words out of context, to suggest that he was calling for Liz Cheney to be put before a firing squad. Her campaign posted a video of Trump speaking to Tucker Carlson on X/Twitter, with a caption that paraphrased him: READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

J.D. Vance and Joe Rogan perfectly deconstruct the ‘radical religion’ of the transgender movement

By Shawn Fleetwood | The Federalist If you’re looking for good analysis breaking down the insanity of the modern “trans” movement, then J.D. Vance’s Thursday interview with podcaster Joe Rogan is the discussion to watch. The GOP vice presidential pick and the comedian covered a lot of topics in their more than three-hour talk. From finding out how Vance was picked to be Donald Trump’s running mate to discussing the first assassination attempt against the former president, the interview provided more in-depth content about the Hillbilly Elegy author’s life and philosophy than corporate media ever could. Among the most notable topics the two men discussed, however, was the “radical religion” of the modern transgender movement. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST...

North Korea tests long-range missile after deploying troops to Russia

By Tim Pearce | Daily Wire North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Thursday designed to threaten the United States, the first ICBM test in nearly a year. The test comes less than a week before the U.S. presidential election and as North Korea sends thousands of troops to reinforce Russia’s military in the war in Ukraine. North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un called the test “an appropriate military action” in response to threatening moves from its adversaries. “The test-fire is an appropriate military action that fully meets the purpose of informing the rivals, who have intentionally escalated the regional situation and posed a threat to the security of our Republic recently, of our counteraction will,” Kim was quoted in North Korea state news, according to&...

How BIOS password exposure could threaten election integrity

By Jen Schumann | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice Election security is key to a constitutional republic by, for, and of the people. Each part of the voting system should be designed to prevent interference. BIOS passwords are vital to this security. They are the first defense against unauthorized access to a voting machine's core settings. Recent concerns have arisen around how the exposure of BIOS passwords might allow bad actors to manipulate voting systems. Cyber security professionals argue this could create risks even without physical access to the machines. It’s important to consider how such exposure could disrupt elections.  The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) controls a machine's basic operations. It includes hardware settings and connectivity options. In vo...

Judge orders Arizona Secretary of State to turn over names of voters who registered without proof of citizenship

By Brittany Bernstein | National Review Today’s ruling comes one month after Arizona secretary of state Adrian Fontes, a Democrat elected in 2022, revealed that a computer glitch had allowed the affected individuals to register to vote without providing proof of citizenship. The Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona, also known as EZAZ.org, sued the state under Arizona’s Public Records Law, arguing that the statute requires Fontes to turn over the list to members of the public who request it. According to a press release from America First Legal, which represented EZAZ.org in the case, the secretary of state “regularly produces voter lists in response to such requests,” but in this case, Fontes refused to release the records.  Fontes had argued that his office didn’t have ...
