Bzdek: When judges break the rules, it’s time to judge the judges

By Vince Bzdek | Commentary, The Gazette Despite five years of searing reports by investigative reporter David Migoya into serious problems afflicting the Colorado Supreme Court, the commission that reviews judicial performance gave all the justices on the ballot this year glowing recommendations. The two most senior members of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Monica M. Márquez and Justice Brian D. Boatright, plus junior Justice Maria E. Berkenkotter, will be on the ballot for a retention vote. Now it’s up to voters to decide if their coverup and unethical handling of a pay-for-silence scandal, their stonewalling of investigations into that scandal, and their rule breaking and conflicts of interest uncovered by Migoya warrant a “NO” vote. The three justices involved in t...

Senate District 16 Showdown: Robyn Carnes vs. Chris Kolker

By Heidi Ganahl | Rocky Mountain Voice In the race for Colorado’s Senate District 16, which represents Denver’s western suburbs, residents have a choice between incumbent Democratic Sen. Chris Kolker or Republican challenger Robyn Carnes. Each candidate brings a unique perspective, but they differ sharply in approach and priorities. Carnes, a Centennial City Council member and business leader, aims to tackle affordability, housing and public safety with a fresh and service-oriented mindset. Kolker, elected in 2021, seeks to continue his legislative work, but may face scrutiny over his effectiveness on core issues like cost of living, housing and his approach to public safety. Carnes brings a wealth of community-oriented experience, serving as a Centennial City Council member and a...

Trump pledges tax credit for family caregivers at NYC rally

By Pilar Arias  | Fox Business Former President Donald Trump announced during a New York City campaign rally on Sunday that, if elected, he would support granting a tax credit for family caregivers. "I'm announcing a new policy today, that I will support a tax credit for family caregivers who take care of a parent or loved one," Trump said during the event at Madison Square Garden. "It's about time that they were recognized, right?" This is not the first time elder care has come up as a priority. During July's Republican National Convention, policy documents referenced Trump's promises to strengthen Medicare and focus on at-home care for the elderly, USA Today reported. Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told the newspaper that, if elected, Trump "will take car...

‘A child would know’ better: Trump blasts Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal

By Shawn Fleetwood | The Federalist On Friday, Donald Trump blasted Joe Biden for his “horribly” managed 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan that got 13 American service members killed. The moment came during a three-hour conversation between the former president and comedian Joe Rogan on the latter’s “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. The men were discussing the implications of U.S. foreign policy under Biden and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Trump said he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin “would have never” invaded Ukraine if he was still president, and contended the “number one” reason Putin launched his offensive is because “he doesn’t respect Biden at all.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST

Forget swing states, here are the swing counties that will decide the 2024 election

By Cami Mondeaux | Washington Examiner Swing states have been getting all the headlines in the run-up to Election Day, but within them, there are a handful of counties that will determine if Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump wins the big prize. As things stand, Harris is expected to garner a minimum of 226 electoral votes, and Trump 219. Should that hold, Harris would need only 44 electoral votes to reach the magic 270 threshold, while Trump would need 51. That means every vote in every swing county within every swing state counts. Here are the most consequential counties to keep an eye on throughout election night. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Frederick & Cochrane: Is FBI still colluding with big tech to interfere in our elections?

By Kara Frederick  and Daniel Cochrane | Commentary, Daily Signal Four years ago this month, the FBI worked with Facebook and Twitter to suppress a New York Post story detailing the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop, just weeks before the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Today, on the eve of another contentious election, America could see a repeat of what federal District Court Judge Terry Doughty called the “most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history.” The FBI knew Hunter Biden’s laptop was authentic in November 2019. Yet, it repeatedly warned social media platforms of an impending “hack and leak operation” ahead of the 2020 election. READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT THE DAILY SIGNAL Editor’...

Mitchell: Why do Democrats flip-flop on men in women’s sports, ‘transgender’ procedures?

By Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell | Commentary, Daily Signal Democrats are scrambling to downplay their radical positions on men playing as “transgender” women in women’s sports and so-called transgender medical procedures for children ahead of an election where polls show most voters hold commonsense views on these issues. Left-wing candidates must walk a fine line between maintaining the flow of hundreds of thousands of dollars they get from pro-transgender groups like the Human Rights Campaign and winning the support of the majority of voters who believe men are men and women are women. Nearly three-quarters (72%) of registered voters think biological males should not be allowed to participate in women’s and girls sports, according to national pollin...

Brace for ‘unrest’ if Donald Trump wins, Democrats warn

By David Rutz | Breitbart Americans should prepare for “unrest’ if former President Donald Trump completes the greatest political comeback in modern American politics, Democrats told the Wall Street Journal on Monday. The potential for Democrats to perpetrate political violence undermines their narrative that Republicans, and especially the America First movement, are a threat to democracy. “I think there’ll be some violence. I think there’ll be workplace fights. There’ll be fights at kids’ birthday parties. I think they’ll be protests and will turn violent,” Mark Halperin recently told Tucker Carlson. Before non-endorsement decision, Washington Post called Trump ‘dreadful’ and ‘worst president of modern times’

By David Rutz | Fox News The Washington Post editorial board hasn't endorsed a single Republican for president over the past 50 years. It isn't endorsing one this cycle, either, but it's the fact that it isn't endorsing Kamala Harris either that has caused yet another uproar at an elite media institution.  "The winner of the election is going to be sitting down the street from The Washington Post," longtime Post media writer Paul Farhi told Fox News Digital. "I mean, you don't think you have an opinion about that? Sure you do. And so it just makes it all the more curious and odd that they should back off this way." A look at the paper's recent history and coverage of Trump leaves no doubt as to where it stands on the GOP standard-bearer, which it's called the worst ...
