Parents arrested after abandoned baby found in Colorado, discovered in street Christmas morning

By Christa Swanson | CBS Colorado Two people have been arrested and are facing charges of felony child abuse after a one-month-old baby was discovered in the median of a road Christmas morning. The Adams County Sheriff's Office said the baby was left sitting in a car seat in the median near 7490 Pecos St. wearing only a diaper. Authorities said they received a 911 call around 9:30 a.m. Christmas morning from someone who discovered the abandoned baby. "We are hoping someone recognizes the car seat or knows something about the baby or family so he can be reunited with his loved ones and the person who abandoned him can be brought to justice," said ACSO. However, holiday purchases can rack up quickly, adding to the increasing nationwide card debt problem. "The financial burden on credit cards has reached a crisis point," said Roger Reynolds, CEO of Reynolds Financial Group. "Recent studies have shown that over 40% of American households are using credit cards to help supplement their monthly expenses. About 25% are using them within the last month and 16% of Americans have actually been using credit cards to help pay their bills month in, month out." By Logan Smith | CBS Colorado State health officials have begun monitoring a facility that converts cow manure into natural gas after elevated levels of an unhealthy and flammable - but also naturally occurring - gas were recently detected. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported excessive amounts of hydrogen sulfide were discovered through instruments readings at Platte River Biogas near Lasalle. Hydrogen sulfide, informally referred to as "swamp gas" or "sewer gas," is known for its odor that is similar to rotten eggs. The gas occurs naturally in crude petroleum, natural gas, volcanic gases, and hot springs, according to the National Institute of Health. By Austen Erblat | CBS Colorado Starbucks baristas at the company's West Alameda Avenue and South Federal Boulevard location in Denver filed for a union election Friday and on Saturday, baristas from across the Denver metro area are protesting outside another Denver location with a list of demands for the coffee giant. The baristas are organizing after Starbucks unions nationwide have made considerable gains over what workers describe as "unfair labor practices." It also comes at what the union says is Starbucks' busiest season. By Tori Mason | CBS Colorado The Aurora Police Department is seeking charges against 11 suspects in its investigation into a violent kidnapping and assault earlier this week at an apartment complex in Aurora.  Two victims were confronted by approximately a dozen armed suspects and taken to a vacant apartment against their will where they were bound, threatened, and tortured. Baby Jesus returned to nativity scene after Northern Colorado police search for thief

The baby Jesus figurine was dropped off at a safe haven location, Poudre Fire Authority station number one. The Jesus figurine was first reported stolen earlier in the week. Number detained by police in gang-related Aurora home invasion grows overnight to 19

By Ashley Portillo | CBS Colorado The number of people detained by police in Aurora is growing after an alleged overnight home invasion and kidnapping at an apartment building in the Colorado city. Police believe most of the suspects are Venezuelan migrants but they are unsure if they're part of a notorious gang. A spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department said on Tuesday evening that 19 people have been detained at the apartment complex, in two separate waves of police actions.
