Republicans win House, delivering Trump a trifecta

By Emily Brooks | The Hill Republicans are projected to keep control of the House of Representatives, handing the party total control of Washington with President-elect Trump back in the White House in January. Decision Desk HQ projected the GOP would hold the House by winning its 218th seat on Monday, the number needed for a majority in the lower chamber. The result is a major win for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who skyrocketed up from obscurity to lead the House GOP not only legislatively, but also in a large role in its campaign infrastructure. Krannawitter: The lessons those most in need of them should learn from election

By Dr. Thomas Krannawitter | Commentary, Thomas Krannawitter The 2024 presidential elections offer many important lessons for political scientists, campaign consultants, partisan activists disguised as journalists, comedians, or professors, and ordinary citizens. It seems many of the people most in need of those lessons refuse to learn them. I, however, am not one to give up easily. I will try to reframe some of the lessons from our recent history-altering elections in ways that might grab the attention of those who are currently staging protests and denouncing those whose votes they desperately want to attract. Trump picks Lee Zeldin to lead EPA — adding second NYer to cabinet

By Steven Nelson | New York Post President-elect Donald Trump has selected former Rep. Lee Zeldin to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, The Post can exclusively report. Zeldin, 44, served four terms as a Republican congressman repping Long Island before losing the 2022 New York governor’s race to Kathy Hochul by a surprisingly close margin. “I am deeply honored to have been asked by President Trump to serve in his Cabinet. As EPA Administrator, we will restore American energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, make the United States the global leader of Artificial Intelligence advancement, and slash the red tape holding back American workers from upward economic mobility,” Zeldin said in a statement to The Post. Sturmon: In the next chapter, Trump’s return and the dream team driving change

By Dawn Sturmon | Commentary, The Conservateur Is it just me, or has the air suddenly cleared, the sun started shining a little brighter, and everything around us feels less... frenzied? That’s how it feels knowing that Donald Trump will soon take the White House reins again. After years of chaos, broken promises, fake news, and empty rhetoric, there’s a refreshing return to clarity — plans that are firm and unapologetically ambitious. I imagine I’m not alone in this feeling. It’s a collective exhale — a sigh of relief as we prepare for a transformative new chapter in American politics. A New Team of Change-Makers Now, here’s the fun part. I’m not just excited about Trump’s return; it’s the team he’s bringing with him that’s lighting up the stage. This is a lineup of political ou...

Democratic voters oust soft-on-crime prosecutors

By Dan Hart | Daily Signal It appears that even in Democratic strongholds, voters have had enough with soft-on-crime policies that have been implemented by left-wing prosecutors in recent years. In California and Illinois, three district attorneys who enacted lenient criminal policies were ousted during Tuesday’s election. In addition, a ballot measure to toughen criminal penalties in California was passed overwhelmingly. In Los Angeles County, which Vice President Kamala Harris won by almost 30 points, Democratic District Attorney George Gascón lost by 22 points to Nathan Hochman, an independent. Gascón, who was elected with the backing of George Soros in the wake of the George Floyd killing in 2020, became known for eliminating cash bail and refusing to charge ...

Cleveland: The lesson some leftists have learned from Trump’s win should terrify Americans

By Margot Cleveland | The Federalist Since Donald Trump’s landslide victory over Kamala Harris last Tuesday, the legacy press has been hosting a public inquest into her demise. Three competing theories soon dominated the discussions — only one of which accepted the reality that Americans rejected the far-left policies and candidate on the merits. While some Democrats and media outlets took this somber approach to the post-mortem, a second and more vocal segment of the press and Harris voting bloc instead declared that Trump’s election proves a majority of Americans are racist, sexist autocrats. The election of Barack Obama, Harris’ previous victories as a senator and a vice-presidential candidate, coupled with the increase in support Donald Trump garnered from minorities and women, q...

Trump appoints Stephen Miller as deputy chief of staff for policy

By Mabinty Quarshie | Washington Examiner President-elect Donald Trump has tapped immigration hawk Stephen Miller as White House deputy chief of staff for policy, a prominent sign that enacting a mass deportation of immigrants is a key priority for him. Miller joins the already announced Tom Homan, former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, as “border czar.” The two leaders have pushed for restrictive immigration policy in the nation and will likely have the resources to enforce their vision starting in January. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance took to social media to congratulate Miller on the promotion Monday. “This is another fantastic pick by the president. Congrats @StephenM!” he wrote on X. By Michael Dorgan , Sarah Rumpf-Whitten  | Fox News A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official who instructed Hurricane Milton relief workers to skip homes with Trump signs has been fired from her role, a FEMA spokesperson tells Fox News, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is investigating the federal agency over the controversy.  The FEMA official, who has not been named by the agency, instructed workers canvassing Lake Placid in Florida to "avoid homes advertising Trump," as they ascertained what residents could qualify for federal aid, according to internal messages first obtained by the Daily Wire.  The Daily Wire reports that government employees told the outlet that at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were bypassed from the end of Oct...

Donald Trump Picks Tom Homan to Oversee Border Security, Deportations

By Neil Munro | Breitbart Border hawk Thomas Homan is getting a prize border security job in the new administration, incoming President Donald Trump said in a message via his Truth Social media network. Homan is an experienced border officer who served as acting chief of the vital Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in 2017 and 2018. The agency is responsible for finding, arresting, and deporting illegal migrants. Homan strongly supported Trump during the 2024 election. However, the statement did not say Homan would be nominated to run the Department of Homeland Security or the ICE agency. If nominated and confirmed by the Senate for either job, he would have the funding, personnel, and legal authority to deport many illegal migrants. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART
