Government Shutdown Leaves Colorado Veterans Waiting for Help

By: Sophia Villalba | Denver7 DENVER — On this Veteran's Day, it's harder for our veterans to get the help they need during the federal government shutdown. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Office (VFW) in Denver said because of furloughs and building closures within the Veteran Affairs, it's harder for veterans to get benefits they've earned. That means any veterans trying to get new disability benefits are facing delays right now. It's particularly challenging for older veterans, and the VFW is trying to help as much as they can. The VFW's legislative director for Colorado said it is not that the VA is shutting people out, but it's taking longer to get things done. “Some of the older veterans are not as savvy with technology as other people, so that’s a major impact and that i...

The Math Behind America’s Slow Surrender

By Sean Pond | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Every generation tells itself the same lie, that compromise keeps the peace, that negotiation is what holds a democracy together. But if you trace it out in hard math instead of soft emotion, you’ll see that every “reasonable middle ground” we’ve chosen has moved this country one step closer to socialism and one step further from the principles our Founding Fathers built this nation on. Let me show you what I mean. The Freedom Scale Picture a number line. Zero means no government. One hundred means total government control, socialism or pure democracy, where rights exist only when the majority allows them. Our Founders placed America around thirty, a balanced, limited government designed to protect liberty, property, a...

Congress Moves Toward Ending Shutdown After Weeks of Gridlock

By: Jordain Carney | Politico The framework lawmakers agreed to Sunday night would not guarantee an extension of the expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits. The Senate voted to break the shutdown stalemate Sunday, paving the way for the government to reopen as soon as later this week. The 60-40 vote to take the first step toward ending the shutdown came hours after enough Democrats agreed to support a package that would fund multiple agencies and programs for the full fiscal year, and all others until Jan. 30, 2026. In exchange, Democrats have a commitment from the Trump administration to rehire government workers fired at the start of the funding lapse, and the promise of a Senate floor vote in December on legislation to extend expiring Obamacare tax credits. In the end...

FBI Ignored Warnings of Armed Violence, Antifa Activity Before Jan. 6, Lawmaker Says

By: John Solomon | Just the News Numerous confidential informants alerted the FBI prior to the Jan. 6, 2021 riot that there was the strong possibility of “armed” conflict at the U.S. Capitol, but that intelligence was not disbursed aggressively enough to force a change in security that fateful day, the first congressman to review those source reports tells Just the News. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., the chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee investigating Jan. 6 law enforcement failures, said he was floored to see the specificity of threats and the consistency in warnings that multiple confidential human sources provided the FBI and that the intelligence was serious enough that it should have prompted more security and possibly even a cancellation of President Donald Trump’s s...

FBI Under Fire After Blaze Report Links Ex-Capitol Officer to Jan. 6 Bombs

By Steve Baker and Joseph M. Hanneman | The Blaze A computer program that compared the bomb suspect’s gait to that of Shauni Kerkhoff produced a 94% match. A forensic analysis of a female former U.S. Capitol Police officer’s gait is a 94%-98% match to the unique stride of the long-sought Jan. 6 pipe-bomb suspect, according to a Blaze News investigation confirmed by several intelligence sources. A source close to a congressional investigation of Jan. 6 additionally told Blaze News evidence has emerged recently that pointed toward law enforcement possibly being involved in the planting of the pipe bombs. ‘They were f**king in on it.’ A software algorithm that analyzes walking parameters including flexion (knee bend), hip extension, speed, step length, cadence, and varian...

The Warning in New York’s Vote: A Nation Forgetting What It Knew

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice New York’s decision to elect an openly socialist mayor is not an isolated event. It is a symptom - an unmistakable sign that one of America’s greatest cities is entering the next phase of a cycle human history has recorded with brutal consistency. Every society that embraced central planning, concentrated state power, or moral relativism eventually arrived at the same destination: decline, disorder, and suffering that could have been avoided had wisdom not been discarded for ideology. Human history is the basis for the prediction. Not fear. Not partisanship. History. Every civilization that tried to bend reality to political fantasy - rather than align policy with truth - followed the same trajectory. People tolerate rising cost...

NYC Will Learn That Socialism Doesn’t Work

By Russ Minary | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.”  — British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher On Tuesday, November 4, Zohran Mamdani was elected as Mayor of New York City. Mamdani is only 34, has never held a real job and openly claims to be a socialist. His Muslim faith was a major part of his campaign. In a city with a lot of Jewish citizens, he won with a majority of votes in a 3-way race. His campaign consisted mainly of a nice smile and a promise to make just about everything ‘free.’ Free transportation, groceries, housing, healthcare and childcare. But he didn’t explain who was going to pay for all of the ‘free stuff.’  NYC is about to experience one of its biggest crises, un...

FAA Orders DIA and Dozens of Airports to Cut Flights 10% Over Safety Concerns

By: Heather Willard | KDVR FOX31 DENVER (KDVR) — The Federal Aviation Administration announced the specific airports that will see flight cuts as the department seeks to maintain air safety across the nation, and Denver International made the list. The order requires certain air carriers to reduce total daily scheduled domestic operations between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. at each airport by 10% through a slow ramp-up that begins Friday. There is no end date to the reductions. The FAA is requiring a 4% reduction in operations on Friday, a 6% reduction in operations by Nov. 11, an 8% reduction by Nov. 13, and to have the carriers reach the 10% reduction by Nov. 14. “My department has many responsibilities, but our number one job is safety. This isn’t about politics – it’s about assessing t...

Study Finds Wolves Cut Ranch Income Nearly 30 Percent

By: Daniel Munch | American Farm Bureau While the expansion of gray and Mexican gray wolf populations is often hailed as a conservation success, the consequences for ranching families can be gruesome, costly and complex - threatening the safety of ranch families and their pets and livestock, as well as the long-term survival of multigenerational ranches and the rural economies they anchor. Focusing on the Mexican gray wolf, a recent University of Arizona study analyzes both direct livestock depredation and indirect effects such as stress-induced weight loss and elevated management costs based on 2024 cattle prices. Findings are based on survey responses from impacted ranchers, modeling of herd-level financial outcome and county-level livestock performance trends. In areas w...

America’s Cold Civil War Heats Up and the Right Finds Itself Fully Unprepared

By: Scott McKay | Commentary, The American Spectator Kill the filibuster now, and start making policy in a lightning round. Just before Tuesday’s election returns started coming in, I found myself confused. We had gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia where GOP candidates who had once appeared in competitive positions to win were flagging, and badly, other races around the country were ringing alarm bells for the Republicans, the government shutdown was hitting five weeks, and it was obvious the Democrats were using it to mobilize their base voters in ways Republicans weren’t doing, and what was the Right occupying its time with? Tearing the Heritage Foundation apart because its president, Kevin Roberts, voiced support for longtime ally Tucker Carlson. And why? Be...
