California Democrats held special session to ‘Trump-proof’ the state as fires rage

By Emily Hallas | Washington Examiner California Democrats are being denounced for calling a special legislative session to target the incoming Trump administration as the state reels from devastating wildfires.  At the direction of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), the state legislature convened on Thursday to move forward with plans to provide $25 million to the California Department of Justice in preparation for lawsuits against the incoming Trump administration.  The move prompted immediate backlash from California Republicans, who argued that instead of focusing on “Trump-proofing” the state, Democrats should be invested in “fire-proofing California.”  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Juan Merchan sentences Trump to unconditional discharge: No Penalty, conviction upheld

By Nick Gilbertson | Breitbart Justice Juan Merchan sentenced President-elect Donald Trump to an unconditional discharge in the Manhattan business records case on Friday, which does not penalize him, though it upholds the jury’s felony conviction. Trump declared that the sentence itself proved the case must be dismissed. “That result alone proves that, as all Legal Scholars and Experts have said, THERE IS NO CASE, THERE WAS NEVER A CASE, and this whole Scam fully deserves to be DISMISSED,” he wrote in post on Truth Social. ‘Colossal win for women and girls’: Federal court strikes down Biden title IX rewrite

By Ashe Schow | Daily Wire The Biden administration’s attempt to rewrite Title IX to allow men in women’s sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms, has been struck down nationwide by a federal court. Twenty-six states sued to stop the regulations from going into effect, and the Supreme Court in August provided a temporary stay of the rules. But now a federal court has blocked the regulations from going into effect for all states – even those that didn’t sue to block the regulations. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, one of the attorneys general who led the charge against the change to Title IX, called the latest ruling a “huge win.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY WIRE

Los Angeles fire budget cut, hundreds of hydrants stolen for scrap before fires

By Kenneth Schrupp  | The Center Sqaure via The Daily Signal Hundreds of fire hydrants were stolen from the ground for scrap metal in advance of the blazes raging across Los Angeles, highlighting the local government’s challenges in maintaining basic order and infrastructure.  “These fire hydrant thefts are yet another sign of how crime is out of control in Los Angeles County,” said Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman to The Center Square before his November election. “Thieves know they’ll face little or no consequences if they are caught, so they’re willing to risk the public’s safety for a small profit.” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who has been away on a taxpayer-funded trip to Africa as a member of a Biden administration delegation, rec...

The historic importance of Greenland for U.S. national security as debate over island’s future roars on

By Liz Friden , Jennifer Griffin  | Fox News As Donald Trump Jr. made a surprise visit to Greenland this week, President-elect Donald Trump's rhetoric is getting more serious about buying Denmark's Arctic territory. The president-elect did not rule out using military coercion to gain control of Greenland in a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday. "No, I can't assure you on either of those two," Trump said, when asked if he would rule out using military or economic coercion to gain control of Greenland. "We need it for national security. That's for the free world. I'm talking about protecting the free world," he continued. Meanwhile, Denmark's leaders remain adamant the Arctic territory is not for sale. Eight bombshell findings in Florida’s grand jury report on big pharma’s Covid shots

By Shawn Fleetwood | The Federalist On Tuesday, a Florida grand jury released its final report on potential “criminal or wrongful activity” regarding the creation and promotion of the Covid jabs. Requested by Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and authorized by the Florida Supreme Court in December 2022, the grand jury was tasked with looking into whether individuals and entities, “including, but not limited to, pharmaceutical manufacturers (and their executive officers) and other medical associations or organizations” possibly violated state law related to the development, clinical testing, and marketing of the mRNA shots. The jury previously released interim reports in February and May 2024, respectively, which undercut much of the ps...

Trump rips Gavin Newsom over poor resource management during fires

By Ryan Saavedra | Daily Wire President-elect Donald Trump slammed California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday for his poor management of the state’s resources, saying he has contributed to the scale of the fires that have rapidly spread throughout Los Angeles County over the last 24 hours. “Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” Trump published on social media. “He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about th...
