‘We followed the rules’—Why Trump’s immigration message is winning over immigrant voters

By Martha McHardy | Newsweek New data shows a growing number of immigrant voters are backing Donald Trump and his hardline immigration agenda—marking a dramatic reversal from past elections. Why It Matters The Trump administration has pledged to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history and has conducted numerous ICE raids, some of which have swept up people with proper documentation. Trump's aggressive stance on immigration has resulted in widespread protests, especially in Los Angeles, where Trump authorized the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles after reported violence against law enforcement, specifically ICE agents carrying out deportation raids in the city. But despite the unrest, data suggests that Trump's messagi...

Yale Study shows Young people ages 18-21 are now overwhelmingly Republican

By Newsweek Young Americans are supporting the Republican Party in greater numbers, a new poll has found, highlighting a large divide among people aged under 30. According to a new Yale Youth Poll, a survey affiliated with the Yale Institution for Social and Political Studies, voters aged 18 to 21 lean Republican by 11.7 points when asked who they would support in the 2026 Congressional elections, while voters aged 22 to 29 favored Democrats by 6.4 points. Why it matters Young people traditionally vote for Democrats in elections, but a conservative shift among Gen Z voters helped President Donald Trump secure the keys to the White House in November 2024. If this trend is sustained, partisan realignment could hamper the Democrat's chance of success in future elections ...

Border patrol has seized more eggs than Fentanyl so far this year

By Newsweek U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has seized more egg products from United States borders this year than it has seized pounds of fentanyl. Statistics from the CBP website show that so far in 2025, the agency has seized 5,938 egg products and 1,631 pounds of fentanyl coming into the US. Newsweek could not make an exact one-to-one comparison as CBP measures eggs by number of products and fentanyl by weight. READ THE FULL STORY AT NEWSWEEK

Marshall: Farmers and ranchers, the backbone of America, are turning to Trump to deliver

By Roger Marshall | Commentary, Newsweek Our farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our economy. Sadly, under the Biden-Harris administration, farmers, ranchers, and rural America have been sidelined. As a Kansan and fifth-generation farm kid, who now serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee, the very idea of a candidate who doesn't understand the value of agriculture is unfit to hold the nuclear codes. Food security is national security, and we need a leader in the White House who realizes the importance of agriculture, trade deals, and the "art of the deal" that gives America the upper hand. For four years, the Biden-Harris administration has declared war on American agriculture. Their reckless policies have plunged net farm income to its lowest point in decades. The ...

By Michael D. Carroll  and Ellie Cook | Newsweek President of the Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in a press conference at the EU leaders summit in Brussels on Thursday that North Korea has joined war against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian National News (UNN). "I know that there is an intention to train 10,000 soldiers from different branches of the (Korean) military: ground forces, air forces, that is, an entire brigade" he is reported to have said. "That is, he (Putin) wants to involve not only infantry, but also specialists from various branches of the military" he continued. "What we know is that North Korea is already preparing a contingent to fight against Ukraine." READ THE FULL STORY AT NEWSWEEK

Donald Trump gets polling boost among women likely to decide election

By Martha McHardy  | Newsweek Donald Trump is seeing an increase in support among white women voters who do not have a college degree, a key demographic expected to play a decisive role in the upcoming election. According a PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, conducted between September 27 and October 1, Trump holds a 13-point lead among non-college educated white women, with 55 percent of the vote to Vice President Kamala Harris' 42 percent. The poll surveyed 1,294 likely voters and had a margin of error of ±3.7 percentage points. Newsweek has contacted the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email. READ THE FULL STORY AT NEWSWEEK

Donald Trump: My plan to Make America Affordable Again, and bring back the American Dream

By Donald J. Trump, Commentary | Newsweek For years, Americans have watched as our country has been stripped of our jobs and stripped of our wealth. We've watched our companies get sold off to foreign countries. But with my plan for the American economy, this will stop immediately. When I am president, we will begin to take other countries' jobs and factories, bringing businesses and trillions of dollars back to the United States. Under my plan, American workers will no longer be worried about losing their jobs to foreign nations. Instead, foreign nations will be worried about losing their jobs to Americans. German car companies can become American car companies. We can beat China in electronic production. Manufacturers that have left us will come sprinting back to our shores. Her...

Maly: Donald Trump Is Jewish Americans’ best option for President in 2024

By Brandon Maly | Newsweek My great-grandfather was a Holocaust survivor. Many of us believed that the kinds of atrocities he lived through in Eastern Europe couldn't happen again, a history that we vowed never to forget. That was just 79 years ago. On Oct. 7, 2023, the world changed for the Jewish community. Israel experienced the most deadly attack in its history, and it marked the most Jews killed on any one day since the Holocaust. At that moment in time (and since), every Jewish person in the United States who feels any connection to Israel became a single-issue voter. This doesn't mean that Jewish voters will vote exclusively on the most pro-Israel candidate (if both are pro-Israel), but it does mean that Jewish voters will look at insufficiently pro-Israel politicians and si...

Biden resumes immigration program that was suspended over fraud concerns

By Matthew Impelli | Newsweek President Joe Biden's administration is set to resume an immigration program that was previously suspended due to fraud concerns. On Thursday, the Biden administration announced that it was resuming an immigration program that permits migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter the United States. The program was previously suspended over fraud concerns, but the announcement today that the updated program will include "additional vetting" of their U.S.-based financial sponsors. "Together with our existing rigorous vetting of potential beneficiaries seeking to travel to the United States, these new procedures for supporters have strengthened the integrity of these processes and will help protect against exploitation of beneficiaries,...
