‘I voted’ sticker art contest open to Colorado high school students

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice High school students throughout Colorado are encouraged to participate in a contest being offered by the secretary of state's office to create an "I Voted" digital sticker. “The digital ‘I Voted’ sticker is a great opportunity for students to engage with our democracy,” Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold. “I’m already looking forward to seeing the designs Colorado high schoolers come up with to encourage Coloradans to vote!” A selected sticket design will be sent to voters via BallotTrax once they have voted in the upcoming general election, a press release from Griswold's office reads. RFK, Jr., qualifies for the Colorado ballot, secretary of state announces

Kennedy, Jr., and his running mate Nicole Shanahan have qualified for a place on the general election ballot in Colorado, a statement from the Colorado secretary of state's office reads. They will appear as an independent on the ballot. RFK, Jr., is the son of 1968 Presidential contender Bobby Kennedy and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Candidates for President and Vice President are required to collect at least 1,500 valid signatures in each of the state's eight congressional districts. The campaign collected 21,702 valid signatures, and met the qualifying total in each district. ‘We must protect our kids’: Lundberg calls for ‘all hands on deck’ to help get initiatives to the ballot

By BRIAN PORTER \ Rocky Mountain Voice The final days are winding down in an effort by Protect Kids Colorado to collect the signatures needed to get two initiatives on the fall ballot, former Sen. Kevin Lundberg wrote Monday in an email newsletter. Protect Kids Colorado, a coalition of grassroots citizens, worked to push Proposition 142 and 160 through the process to reach the ballot, Lundberg said. Each initiative needs 125,000 valid signatures before Wednesday, July 31. Following is the language of each measure: Prop. 142: Any public school representative who obtains information that a child enrolled in their public school is experiencing gender incongruence shall notify the child's parents. House District 22 is now a three-candidate race in El Paso County

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice A third candidate has joined the field in the Colorado House District 22 general election race. The signature petition of Daniel Campaña was certified last week by the secretary of state's office. He submitted 1,253 signatures, of which 1,056 were accepted to clear the minimum requirement of 1,000 valid signatures. Campaña joins the race which already was opposed. Republican Ken DeGraaf, who presently holds the seat, earned 9,538 votes in an unopposed Republican Party primary election. Democrat Michael Pierson collected 4,635 votes in an unopposed Democratic Party primary election. The district lies entirely in El Paso County. A non-meeting "rally" at Faith Fellowship Church here on Saturday, July 27, may have begun to answer that question. In fact, a couple committee members in attendance proposed they had found all three officers -- those candidates to become chairman who stayed to participate in an impromptu question-and-answer session. It has been converted into a rally for conservative causes.
