Vance Announces White House Review Of Omar Immigration Claims

By Virginia Grace McKinnon | The Daily Signal Vice President JD Vance alleges that Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., committed immigration fraud. “Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” he said when asked if Omar committed fraud by conservative activist and podcast host Benny Johnson on “The Benny Johnson Show.” Omar is a founding member of “the squad,” a far-left progressive faction of the Democratic Party. She immigrated to the United States from Somalia in 1995 and was naturalized in 2000. Vance announced that the White House is now looking into what can be done to “get justice for the American people.” READ THE FULL ARTICLE AT THE DAILY SIGNAL

Trump Administration Taps Global Oil Reserves And U.S. Production To Steady Markets

By: Anthony Iafrate | The Daily Signal THE DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Secretary of Energy Chris Wright stated during a “Meet The Press” interview Sunday that the U.S. is taking several actions—including increasing oil production in deep blue California—to mitigate rising fuel costs due to the conflict in Iran. After the military strikes of Operation Epic Fury began Feb. 28, Iran sought to block U.S. transport vessels from passing though the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway separating the country from the Gulf States through which an estimated 20% of the world’s oil demand usually flows. The reduction in shipping volume has led to the surge of oil prices in the following weeks. “We have done many, many act...

Conservatives Blast Thune Over Planned Show Vote On SAVE America Act

By: Virginia Grace McKinnon, Pedro Rodriguez, Bradley Devlin | The Daily Signal A source familiar with the matter has confirmed to The Daily Signal that Senate Majority Leader John Thune will bring the SAVE America Act to a vote next week without moving forward with a talking filibuster. The suspected vote was previously reported by Politico and the Washington Examiner.  “I can confirm, it looks like Thune is planning to bring it to a vote next week as a show vote,” the source told The Daily Signal. “Despite outrage from GOP voters and the specific request of the president, he is not planning on pursuing a standing filibuster or any other method to actually pass the bill.”  Conservatives who have been pushing Thune and Senate Republicans...

Education Department Moves To Reveal Foreign Donors Funding US Universities

By Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell | The Daily Signal FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—The Department of Education will soon require universities to publicly disclose the counterparties of foreign funding, a senior Education Department official told The Daily Signal. Section 117 of the Higher Education Act requires higher education institutions to report gifts and contracts valued at $250,000 or more to the Department of Education, to make them available for public inspection. Universities currently report counterparties, their gifters or contractors, to the agency. However, the identities of foreign counterparties are not made public, which the senior department official said violates the law. The totals received from counterparties of concern are listed in the Section...

Colorado Democrat Shelves Prostitution Decriminalization Effort Amid Growing Criticism

By: Tyler O'Neil | The Daily Signal Colorado’s Republican House leader is calling foul after a Colorado state senator says he is effectively killing his own bill to decriminalize prostitution—in order to protect “sex workers” from the trauma of having to testify. State Sen. Nick Hinrichsen, the main sponsor of SB26-097, told the Colorado Sun that his bill lacks the necessary support to clear the Senate Judiciary Committee, so he will ask to delay the measure until after the 2026 legislative session, effectively killing the bill. He said the “sex workers” who persuaded him to bring the bill also persuaded him to effectively kill it. “Ultimately, we all decided that having a very tense, long committee hearing, where they’d have to be in a room with a ...

Trump Taps Oklahoma Sen Markwayne Mullin To Lead Homeland Security

By Virginia Allen | The Daily Signal Oklahoma Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin said he was “humbled” to be President Donald Trump’s nominee as the next homeland security secretary, replacing Kristi Noem. “Humbling,” Mullin told press when asked of his first reaction to his nomination. “I had to call my dad … because it happened quick. I had to call my wife,” Mullin said, adding, “It’s just, you know, pretty humbling when you start thinking about it: A little kid from Westville, Oklahoma, gets to serve in the president’s Cabinet. That’s pretty neat.” When Mullin is confirmed, he says his priority will be to enforce the laws Congress has passed. “My focus is to keep the homeland secure. That’s going to be my focus, and we’re super excited about this op...

Supreme Court Sides With Parents In California Gender Identity Secrecy Fight

By Tyler O'Neil | The Daily Signal The Supreme Court Monday vindicated parental rights, upholding an injunction against California’s gender secrecy policy, which mandated that school staff hide a student’s claimed transgender identity from parents unless the student expressly consented to reveal it. “This is a watershed moment for parental rights in America,” Paul Jonna, special counsel at the Thomas More Society, said in a statement responding to the decision Monday. “The Supreme Court has told California and every state in the nation in no uncertain terms: you cannot secretly transition a child behind a parent’s back.” “The court’s landmark reaffirmation of substantive due process, its vindication of religious liberty, and its approval of class-wide re...

Colorado Democrats Advance Controversial Prostitution Decriminalization Plan

By Tyler O’Neil | The Daily Signal Colorado Democrats have filed a bill that could make it the first state to decriminalize prostitution, and critics warn that the bill would make the Centennial State the “Wild West” for purchasing sex and lead to an increase in human trafficking. “We have a billion-dollar budget shortfall here in Colorado, and so there’s a lot of talk about budget and affordability and cost of living,” Jarvis Caldwell, the Republican minority leader in the state House of Representatives, told The Daily Signal in an interview Wednesday. “This isn’t the Republicans’ idea of making things more affordable, by making it easier to sell yourself for sex,” he quipped. Caldwell noted that Colorado had the 10th highest rate of human traffi...

Report Raises Concerns Over Mail Ballots Crossing State Lines Before Postmark

By Fred Lucas | The Daily Signal The U.S. Postal Service system of handling and delivering mail ballots often leads to rejected or late ballots, election security advocates contend.   The Election Integrity Network issued two recent reports on the handling of mail ballots by postal employees and the use of regional mail processing centers across state lines. The reports claim that current practices could either result in delayed ballots or confusion over postmarks during an election.  In the 2022 election, 549,824 mail ballots were rejected, about 1.5% of all absentee/mail-in ballots, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission found. Common reasons for rejected ballots include non-matching signatures and missed deadlines. ...

Pressure Mounts on Senate GOP to Fight for the SAVE America Act

By Virginia Grace McKinnon | The Daily Signal Ahead of an expected vote on the SAVE America Act in the House, nearly 100 conservative leaders are urging the Senate to pass the election integrity measure using the talking filibuster. The SAVE America Act, an updated version of the SAVE Act, would secure America’s elections by requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and requiring voter identification. The bill, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, in the House and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, in the Senate, is expected to pass the House this week. Conservatives are now calling on Senate Republicans to do everything in their power to pass this legislation. https://twitter.com/RepChipRoy/status/2017274977259798917?s=20 RE...
