Never forget what the lockdowners did to us

By M.D. Kittle | The Federalist, Commentary In March 2020, my aunt collapsed with a painful headache and was rushed to the hospital. We would soon learn that the headache was symptomatic of an aggressive form of brain cancer that no surgery or treatment could cure. Within six weeks we buried my beloved aunt and godmother.  Her death was swift and devastating, made all the more painful by the draconian “stay at home” orders that the state of Illinois issued. The blue state, led by the far-left Gov. J.B. Pritzker, was not alone. Lockdown madness was sweeping the nation. Among its first victims were people like my uncle, my cousins, my family — all locked out from seeing our dying loved one in the opening days of her hospitalization. My aunt’s husband of 60 years couldn’t even be a...

Department Of Education cuts staff by 50 percent

By Breccan F. Thies | The Federalist The U.S. Department of Education announced on Tuesday evening that it will be cutting its staff by about 50 percent as part of a “reduction-in-force” to start downsizing the department. In a press call, a senior department official said that of the 4,133 employees currently at the Education Department, 1,315 will be subject to the reduction-in-force — a formal governmental process. That number is on top of the 259 employees who utilized the deferred resignation program, 313 who took the voluntary separation incentive payment of $25,000, and another 63 probationary employees who were terminated in February. “Today’s reduction in force reflects the Department of Education’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and ensuring that resources are...

Trump admin to deport foreigners who come to American universities and shill for terrorists

By Brianna Lyman | The Federalist A Syrian-born Palestinian activist and former Columbia University graduate student was arrested on Saturday and will reportedly have his green card revoked because of his involvement in radical left-wing protests supporting Hamas. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” According to his attorney, Khalil is a permanent resident with a green card.Federal law prohibits providing “material support or resources” to any designated terrorist organizations. Trump Admin finds Maine in violation of Civil Rights Law for allowing men in women’s sports

By  Breccan F. Thies | The Federalist The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services notified the state of Maine that it is violating Title IX civil rights law by persisting in allowing males in female sports. The letter sent to the office of Gov. Janet Mills, D-Maine, as well as the state’s attorney general office, states that Maine violated the law by continuing to allow sex-based discrimination in school programs and activities that receive federal dollars. “Maine Democrats continue to play chicken with hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding and the future of girls’ sports in Maine is at stake,” Republican state Rep. Laurel Libby told The Federalist. “Nearly 70% of Democrats agree that biological males should not be allowed to compete against girls. As a result of...

Linda McMahon confirmed as education secretary

By Breccan F. Thies | The Federalist The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Linda McMahon as the Secretary of Education on Monday evening, setting in motion the full force of the Trump administration’s plans to end diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and radical gender ideology in schools, as well as empower states and localities to make their own education decisions. McMahon, who previously led the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term, was confirmed 51-45. The vote followed testimony where McMahon signposted goals of the Trump administration to significantly reduce the bureaucratic control of education from a federal level and rework federal education dollars into a system that allows states and localities to make decisions. The Trump administration has made clear th...

Kittle: Patel’s FBI could shine light on Nashville trans school shooter’s manifesto

By  M.D. Kittle | Commentary, The Federalist For those who believe politically weaponized justice is injustice, Pam Bondi running the Department of Justice and Kash Patel at the helm of the FBI feels like a warm spring breeze after a brutally cold winter. For those who turned federal law enforcement into the Stasi and cheered on the myriad abuses (I’m looking at you Schiff, you weasel), things are about to get, well, difficult.  There’s much to look forward to in the reckoning that Trump 2.0 is bringing to the people who transformed America’s DOJ into a banana republic. It’s long past time for accountability and, hopefully, justice served to the wicked.  Transparency is absolutely essential in that pursuit. Patel could go a long way on that front by ...

White House Correspondence cartel is freaking out because it’s losing power and control, not press freedom

By Elle Purnell | Commentary, The Federalist During all the meltdowns about Donald Trump’s election being a “threat to democracy,” someone observantly noted that all the panic made sense once you replaced the word “democracy” with “bureaucracy.” Now, as D.C. journo types panic about the threat to a “free press” posed by Trump’s breakup of the White House Correspondents’ Association monopoly, replacing “free press” with “corporate media’s control of news narratives” provides similar clarity. On Tuesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the White House would have the final say on which reporters have access to President Trump in the “most intimate spaces” such as the Oval Office as part of the 13-member press pool. Gatekeeping this access was previously the purview of the gr...

Official admits Dept. Of Education is spending tax dollars on illegals and dodging DOGE oversight

By Logan Washburn | The Federalist Department of Education staff remove citizenship requirements from legislation, offer programs to illegal immigrants, and are using a messaging app to avoid oversight from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), according to an undercover video published Feb. 20 by Project Veritas. “If Congress actually knew that we don’t ask that [citizenship status], there would be a lot of, probably, a lot of uproar,” said DOE Branch Chief Travis Combs. “You know how they have like sanctuary cities? We would be a sanctuary program where we’re spending federal dollars on illegal immigrants.” Ignoring Citizenship Combs is a branch chief in the DOE’s office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, according to LinkedIn. He said in the video...

Davidson: If the drug cartels are terrorist groups, Mexico is their state sponsor

By John Daniel Davidson | Commentary, The Federalist News broke Wednesday that the State Department has named eight Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations, including the Sinaloa Cartel and Jalisco New Generation Cartel, or CJNG, two of the most powerful criminal organizations in the country. The naming of Sinaloa in particular is important because it implicates the Mexican state at the highest levels. Former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his ruling MORENA coalition are closely connected to the Sinaloa Cartel, as is his protégé and successor, President Claudia Sheinbaum. It’s not too much to say that if the Sinaloa Cartel is a terrorist organization, then MORENA and the Sheinbaum administration are its state sponsors. There is a mountain of ev...

Thies: DOGE cost-cutters should audit these Education Department programs next

By Breccan F. Thies | The Federalist , Commentary The U.S. Department of Education is one of the most hated agencies in the government, consistently catching the ire of conservatives and education advocates who want it abolished for its wasteful spending and deep state control over education policies. Last week, President Donald Trump said he would like to see the Department of Education “closed immediately,” calling it a “con job.” He noted that America spends more money per student than almost every other country while delivering poor academic outcomes. Auditors from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have already slashed hundreds of millions in waste. Secretary-designate Linda McMahon, who had her Senate confirm...
