House Judiciary investigation launched into Iran sending Democrats hacked Trump campaign info

By Katie Pavlich | Townhall House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has officially launched an investigation into hacked materials that were stolen from the Trump campaign by Iran and distributed to Biden -- now Harris -- campaign officials earlier this year. "On September 18, 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency announced that in 'late June and early July,' the Islamic Republic of Iran attempted to interfere with the upcoming presidential election by “sen[ding] unsolicited emails to individuals then associated with the Biden-Harris campaign that contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump’s campaign," Jordan wrote...

Remember Those Apartment Complexes Taken Over by Venezuelan Gangs in Colorado? Well…

By Madeline Leesman | Town Hall A Colorado landlord has agreed to sell an apartment complex because it was taken over by the violent Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua.  According to the New York Post, landlord Zev Baumgarten had been fighting with Aurora, Colorado leadership after the city accused him of allowing Aspen Grove apartments to become a “trash-ridden, gang-infested hellhole.” Baumgarten also owns the property where a viral video showing members of the gang breaking into an apartment unit. The most important stat in a fresh NYT poll showing Trump pulling back ahead nationally

By Guy Benson | Town Hall In case you missed Sarah's post yesterday, a fresh nationwide survey from the New York Times and Siena College shows Donald Trump edging back out into the lead against Kamala Harris -- in both the head-to-head and wider field numbers.  In the days immediately following Joe Biden being forced out of the race by his party, this pollster went into the field and found Trump ahead of Harris by one point among likely voters, 48 percent to 47 percent.  In the intervening month-and-a-half, Harris was lavished with extraordinarily positive 'news' coverage, gaining momentum, and taking the lead.  The press made her the new frontrunner.  Six weeks later,  the hype machine may be running out of steam.  The same pollster went back into the field, just after Labor Day, and p...

ABC News Host Tried to Spin Kamala’s Health Care Policy in Front of This GOP Senator. It Got Messy.

By Matt Vespa | Town Hall ABC News host Jonathan Karl tried to sell Sen. Tom Cotton some pure snake oil about Kamala Harris, but the Arkansas Republican wasn’t having any of it. Karl got dragged for trying to spread fake news about the vice president’s agenda, which the media is desperately trying to rework as a moderate plan for our nation’s future. Cotton said that Harris wants to eliminate private health care plans, which Karl said isn’t true.  Cotton then ran a clinic on Harris, who hasn’t disavowed this part of her 2020 platform. Also, he pointed out in the previous interview that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) carried an aura of disappointment that Harris was trying to moderate her positions instead of running on a hardcore communist agenda that we all know she has in store for the...

Barone: The college graduates’ party’s candidate doesn’t know economic history

By Michael Barone, Commentary | Town Hall Learning isn't necessarily cumulative. Human experience over the centuries provides lessons, some clearer than others. But each generation has to learn lessons anew, and some do not. The lessons about economic growth taught over the long run of history are clear. Growth is not inevitable, and while riches may be accumulated, or appropriated, by the few in high positions, the lives of the very large majority throughout the centuries have been nasty, brutish and short. The exception, the Great Enrichment, began some three centuries ago, around the North Sea, in the Dutch Republic and England, according to economic historian Deirdre McCloskey, in societies when people began respecting and encouraging commerce, rather than resenting and scorni...

Cuccinelli: Maine shows just what’s wrong with ranked-choice voting

By Ken Cuccinelli  | Commentary, Townhall.com Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has qualified for the Maine Presidential ballot in November and in doing so shows just how fraudulent claims in favor of Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) really are. Supporters of RCV falsely promise it will reduce toxic partisanship, increase compromise, and eliminate extremism from our elections, but in reality the costly, confusing, and complex voting practice has been an unmitigated disaster wherever implemented.  RCV requires a voter to rank each candidate on the basis of ‘least bad’ by assigning a numerical designation to the candidate the voter favors most to the candidate the voter favors least. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of first-choice votes in the first round of voting, the l...

Mackowiak: Government control of retirement is not the answer

By Matt Mackowiak  | Commentary, TownHall.com The road to retirement hinges on two distinct paths: building upon the progress we've achieved over the past 50 years or transitioning to a fully government-run system. Americans have suffered in recent years with less money in their pockets amid a struggling economy, and with that struggle comes strong uncertainty about the future of their retirement. The media has painted a grim picture of America's retirement prospects despite the fact that Baby Boomers are the richest retiring generation in U.S. history, and young people are saving earlier than any generation before them. Far-left politicians like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) are capitalizing on the fear-mongering to push a partisan agenda demanding greater government control of...

Vespa: Is Barack Obama covertly the QB of the Harris presidential campaign?

By Matt Vespa | Townhall Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy isn’t one to spew conspiracy theories, but what he said about Kamala Harris’ campaign was interesting, given the recent hires. The California Republican said that the man who is the real campaign manager is none other than former President Barack Obama (via NY Post). The former president worked behind the scenes to jettison Biden after his disastrous June 27 debate. He knew Biden couldn’t beat Trump and felt the same way about Kamala. Biden was hour late to call with Hispanic lawmakers, ending after several denied questions, one asked him to withdraw

By Matt Vespa | TownHall.com One Democrat had the courage to tell Biden to his face that he needed to go. It was during a call with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that quickly devolved into chaos, according to NOTUS. The president has been working to shore up support as significant swaths of the party have been shaken by his disastrous debate performance on June 27. Three-fourths of the country think Biden is too old to be effective, with the president’s approvals settling in the mid-30s. As of today, Donald Trump is heading toward reclaiming his old job.  READ THE FULL STORY AT TOWNHALL.COM

Moore: The case for ‘Draining the Swamp’ is stronger than ever

By Stephen Moore | Commentary, Townhall.com The latest official employment report finds once again that the federal government and state-local hiring spree is still in full gear. Over the past year, health care and government hiring has outpaced every private sector industry. It isn't just the IRS bringing on thousands of new workers. The bloat is everywhere. So even though there are a lot more government workers, good luck finding them or getting them on the phone. This is because so few of them are actually physically on the job. What's happening in the federal government ("Club Fed") these days borders on the absurd -- or should I say the obscene.
