House GOP adopts Trump budget blueprint after last-minute scramble

By Mychael Schnell | The Hill House Republicans on Thursday adopted the Senate’s framework that will be used to enact key parts of President Trump’s legislative agenda, getting the blueprint over the finish line after a last-minute scramble to win over conservatives who had spent days railing against the measure. The largely party line 216-214 vote marks a big win for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who has pushed an aggressive timeline to advance Trump’s domestic policy priorities, and President Trump, who endorsed the legislation and lobbied those on the right flank to get on board. Only two Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Victoria Spartz (Ind.) — voted against the measure. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE HILL

House Democrat bucks his own party, comes out in staunch support of Trump’s tariff strategy

By Michael Schwarz | Western Journal President Donald Trump and one of his nominal adversaries have suddenly called to mind two of America’s great early statesmen. In my imagination  — excessively fertile, perhaps — Trump plays the role of Founding Father James Madison, while Trump’s nominal adversary, Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, has channeled the worthy spirit of a fellow New Englander, John Quincy Adams, son of the great Founding Father John Adams. According to Axios, Golden has taken the very Quincy Adams-like approach of bucking his own party and voicing support for Trump’s controversial-yet-brilliant tariff policy. Maine’s lawsuit against The USDA defends boys in girls’ sports, peddles anti-Trump lies about school lunches

By Breccan F. Thies | The Federalist Maine sued the Trump administration on Monday for freezing federal funds to the state after it refused to ban men in women’s sports. Maine also lied in its lawsuit about threats to school lunches for school children. The lawsuit, brought against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), claims that the Trump administration cannot revoke federal funding from Maine — despite the fact that USDA found the state “in direct violation of Title IX” because of “Maine’s continual refusal to provide equal opportunity to women and girls in educational programs.” Following the example set out by a shameless Biden administration, which really did have a USDA that threatened the meals of school children if states did not follow their pro-mutilation-and-cast...

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is working to clean up the county

By Ashleigh Quintana | Koaa News Colorado On Tuesday morning, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) assisted the El Paso County Department of Public Works (DPW) with a cleanup operation in the county. The agencies removed "hazardous debris and trash" from a homeless camp under the overpass near Chamberlin South. DPW and EPSO said this area had become a priority due to an upcoming bridge inspection. Lieutenant Joshua Seiter and EPSO Reserve Unit members assisted in securing and clearing the site before "several DPW employees and heavy equipment operations" cleaned up the trash. According to EPSO, there was enough trash removed to fill the back of a dump truck. READ THE FULL STORY AT KOAA NEWS COLORADO

Army diverting millions meant for soldiers’ food, report finds

By Mary Shinn | The Gazette Colorado’s senators and a bipartisan mix of other lawmakers called on the secretary of Defense to provide answers Friday after an investigation that showed the Army is diverting a large portion of money collected from junior service members that should be spent on food. A Military.com investigation showed that across 11 of the Army’s largest bases “more than $151 million of $225 million collected from soldiers was not spent on food.” The money was deducted from junior enlisted service members paychecks to cover the cost of food on base. At Fort Carson, the investigation showed $22 million was collected from soldiers and $5 million was spent on food during the 2024 fiscal year. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE GAZETTE

Trump admin reportedly cutting 80,000 jobs from veterans affairs

By Wallace White | Daily Caller President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly slashing 80,000 jobs from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in an “aggressive” reorganization, according to a memo obtained by the Associated Press (AP) Wednesday. Christopher Syrek, the VA Chief of Staff, reportedly told top officials in the department that the move is intended to return the VA to 2019 staffing levels at 400,000 employees, according to the memo. The move comes as the Trump administration looks to cut excess spending and waste from the entire federal bureaucracy, with the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by billionaire and Trump ally Elon Musk, taking an ax to several federal initiatives and departments. Biden officials slip back into the swamp as Trump takes charge in DC

By Nick Pope | Daily Caller Former Biden administration officials are landing cushy new jobs around Washington, D.C., in the weeks after being replaced by their Trump administration successors. Ex-Biden officials who worked in the White House, Department of Energy (DOE), Commerce Department and more are now snapping up new gigs at well-heeled law firms, activist groups, universities and other organizations as the new Trump administration takes shape and gets to work. Many of their new employers are the type of powerful institutions that make up “The Swamp,” a term President Donald Trump frequently uses to describe the permanent political class and special interests that collectively exercise massive influence over the U.S. government. For example, Gina Raimondo, who served in the ...

Disney drops two DEI programs as investor backlash grows

By Paul Bois | Breitbart The Walt Disney Company will be reportedly dropping two Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs due to pressure from investors. According to the conglomerate’s latest SEC filing, Disney will be dropping its “Reimagine Tomorrow” program from its 2024 SEC 10-K report’s DEI section. “The program was mentioned in the 2023 report, which defines the program as ‘the Company’s digital destination for amplifying underrepresented voices and features some of Disney’s DE&I commitments and actions,'” noted Fox Business. Hanson: Sorry, liberals. DOGE is 100% legal. Here’s why.

By Victor Davis Hanson | Commentary, Daily Signal Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal. I want to revisit the hysteria, controversy—whatever term we use—about Elon Musk and his role in the Department of Government Efficiency—or DOGE—using that term for the executive officer of Renaissance Florence. The Italian word “doge” is a meme, so to speak. There’s a lot of controversy about Elon Musk, and let’s just dispel some of it right at the start. He is not a freelancer. He was appointed a government official. Donald Trump, by an executive order, created the Department of Government Efficiency, and he made Elon Musk the head of it, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, who now has resigned. Elon Musk has statutory authority. This Department of Government Efficiency is not a C...

After four years of failure, White House Press Corps does complete 180 under Trump

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller All was quiet as the press pool stood feet from the White House in Spring 2024 waiting for the president to call us in for his meeting with congressional leaders. Suddenly, I heard squeals behind me similar to that of sorority girls after completing rush. Members of my fellow press pool bear-hugged the guest who had come up behind them: White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The press gushed over Jean-Pierre: “It has been so long!” “I love your outfit!” “Are you joining us today?” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY CALLER
