Trump shooter posted on gaming platform Steam before act: ‘July 13 will be my premiere’

By Ross O'Keefe | Washington Examiner Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot former President Donald Trump and other attendees at a Pennsylvania rally, allegedly posted on the popular online gaming platform Steam that “July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds.” Police found the message on his laptop along with searches for “Trump,” “Biden,” “when is the DNC convention,” and the “July 13 Trump rally,” according to Fox News reporting on a Secret Service and FBI briefing to senators. No motive has been established. Police found no other evidence indicating the shooter had a particular ideology, but they did learn he had a second cellphone with 27 contacts, all of which police are tracking down. By Emily Hallas | Washington Examiner Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said Monday that the shape of the roof former President Donald Trump’s would-be assassin sat on played a role in her agency not securing the building.  Cheatle has come under fire for her agency’s failure to prevent Thomas Matthew Crooks’s assassination attempt against Trump during a Pennsylvania rally last Saturday. During the event, Crooks gained access to a building approximately 400 feet from Trump’s podium. By Washington Examiner Much has been said of the Secret Service detail after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Many are seeking answers as to how the shooter could position himself on a roof so close to a former president and current presumptive Republican presidential nominee. One theory suggested that some Secret Service members were relocated from Trump’s rally in Butler to a Sunday campaign event for first lady Jill Biden in Pittsburgh. The Secret Service rejected this claim. By Byron York | Washington Examiner Former President Donald Trump can’t stop thinking about the way he moved his head in the split second before a gunman, intent on assassinating him, pulled the trigger during his speech in Pennsylvania Saturday evening. Trump was standing at the podium and began to refer to a large screen, hanging to his right, that showed statistics about immigration. To better see the screen, Trump turned his head to the right and a little up, and at the millisecond in which his head was at just the right angle for the bullet to graze his ear but not enter his skull — at that moment, the bullet whizzed by. The logs show that Parkinson’s disease expert Dr. Kevin Cannard of the Walter Reed Medical Center met with Biden’s physician Kevin O’Connor and two others at the White House residence clinic on Jan. 17.
