$5.5M project in Arapahoe County aims to make travel safer for Colorado cyclists

By Brian Sherrod | CBS Colorado Construction crews in Arapahoe County are working to make a popular intersection more bike-friendly. Right now, crews are adding three new roundabouts around sections of Inverness West, Inverness East, and Inverness Boulevard by Dry Creek Road. The Inverness Drive Project is just one step in a very big project. CBS First Alert Traffic Tracker Reporter met with CIP Transporation Engineer Trent Marshall to discuss the project in depth. Marshall tells CBS Colorado it will take a four-lane road and turn it into a two-lane road. It will dedicate those lanes to be street bike lanes. This program will provide bicycle facilities from Denver to Douglas County. The construction started the week of May 27 but the design for this project is two years in the making...

Two Arapahoe County cities contribute millions into Douglas County road project

By Noah Festenstein | Denver Gazette Two Arapahoe County cities are pouring millions of dollars into assisting Douglas County’s estimated $34.3 million County Line Road reconstruction project. The project, which is currently accepting bids from construction companies, plans for improvements along County Line Road from Broadway to University Boulevard. The road separates both Littleton and Centennial in Arapahoe County from Douglas County to the south. In 2018, both cities agreed with Douglas County to work together to receive enough local and federal funding to reconstruct County Line Road. Teen ‘seriously injured’ falling into abandoned missile silo in Arapahoe County

By  Samantha Jarpe | Fox 31 Denver The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies rescued several teens from an abandoned missile silo near Deer Trail Sunday morning. One of the teens was in critical condition after falling 30 feet. A rescue operation had been underway to save the teen. Just before 9 a.m., the teen was rescued and put into a helicopter that was on standby at the scene and airlifted away. Authorities told FOX31 that the teen, who is 18, was expected to survive. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office told FOX31 that eight teens total trespassed onto the land and made their way to the silo and where rescuers were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX31 DENVER
