The actual costs, an official confirmed Tuesday, was $668,934. Auraria Campus officials decline to provide security details as protest encampment grows

Brambila | The Denver Gazette The pro-Palestinian protests on the Auraria Campus have cost it nearly $300,000, campus officials reported Tuesday. “The protest has cost the campus an estimated $290K in damages, canceled community events, and other relevant costs to address the encampment,” Devra Ashby, a spokesperson for the Auraria Higher Education Center, said in an email to The Denver Gazette. “That cost will only increase over time.” Damages — Ashby said — have involved destroying the sod in the quad, graffiti tagging and vandalism, as well as the cost of cleaning up the quad, including a hazmat team handling a spill from an illegal toilet. Tents back at pro-Palestinian protest on Auraria Campus in Denver

By Noah Festenstein and Nico Brambila | Colorado Politics Ignoring university officials, pro-Palestinian protesters set up roughly 40 tents over the weekend at the Auraria Campus in Denver, saying they are prepared to "defend" the encampment until their demands — notably divestment from companies that operate in Israel — are met. Police officers arrested dozens of protesters on Friday, a day after hundreds occupied the Auraria Campus, which is shared by the University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Community College of Denver. Pro-Palestinian protesters occupy Auraria campus in Denver, demand divestment

Brambila | Denver Gazette More than 200 hundred protesters — many of them students — occupied the Auraria campus on Thursday night to make several demands, notably divestment from corporations that operate in Israel. The protesters, who chanted anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian slogans, also asked to meet with Michelle Marks, chancellor of the University of Colorado Denver, to discuss how to implement their demands.    The protest in front of the Tivoli Student Union is the latest in what has been a wave of pro-Palestinian rallies on campuses across the United States in the last several days and increasing worries by Jewish students for their physical safety.    READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DENVER GAZETTE
