Trump signs agreements with Qatar on defense and Boeing purchases

By Anders Hagstrom  | Fox News President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a series of agreements with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha, Qatar. The agreements involved a purchasing agreement by Qatar for Boeing aircraft, as well as letters of intent and "joint cooperation" between Qatar and the U.S. The emir also signed an intent agreement to purchase MQ-9 drone aircraft. Al Thani said he had a "great" conversation with Trump prior to the signing ceremony on Wednesday, adding that the agreements have elevated the U.S.-Qatar relationship to "another level." China halts Boeing jet orders

By Pilar Arias  | Fox Business Chinese airlines have been ordered not to take any further deliveries of Boeing aircraft in response to the U.S. imposing 145% tariffs on Chinese goods, Bloomberg News reports.  Just before 7 a.m. EST, Boeing's pre-market share stock price was down 3.72%.   The aerospace company calls itself a "top U.S. exporter" that serves "customers in more than 150 countries." Boeing's year-to-date deliveries show that 18 aircraft have been delivered to nine airlines in China. The country's top three airlines – Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines – have plans to take delivery of 45, 53 and 81 Boeing planes, respectively, between 2025-2027, Reuters reports.  READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX BUSINESS

The move is part of a 10% global workforce cut that the company announced in October, which is expected to impact approximately 17,000 jobs within Boeing. A total of 2,199 Boeing workers in the state of Washington – where its workforce totals more than 60,000 – will be laid off over the next few months, Fox Business reported in November. Boeing machinists go on strike

By Taylor Giorno | The Hill Boeing factory workers went on strike early Friday morning after overwhelmingly rejecting a new union contract with the company. Around 33,000 machinists went on strike shortly after midnight on the West Coast after the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union announced 94.6 percent of workers had voted to reject the proposal and 96 percent approved the stoppage. The work stoppage puts financial strain on the storied airplane maker, which has been struggling to repair its reputation after the door plug of a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight in January, prompting regulatory action and congressional scrutiny. Production limits imposed on Boeing after a piece of the wall blew off an Alaska Airlines plane midflight in January are in part responsible for the delays, which are forcing carriers to halt hiring and rethink schedules even as demand for air travel remains robust.
