Trump Administration Exposes Billions in Foreign Funding to US Universities

By Steven Richards | Just the News Early in his second term, Trump directed the Education and Justice Departments to enforce federal laws surrounding the disclosure of foreign funding on U.S. campuses after what he viewed as lax enforcement during the Biden administration. With a new tool publicizing foreign funding to U.S. universities, the Trump administration has fulfilled an early promise to end secrecy around contributions from other governments and to ramp up public scrutiny of such contributions. The data show that the top ten contributors provided nearly $63 billion in foreign funding to higher education institutions. Several of these governments are close U.S. allies and partners, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.  Problematic cont...

CSU faculty under fire as students allege “hostile environment” in anti-racism course

By: Emma Pettit | The Chronicle of Higher Education After taking a social-work course at Colorado State University in 2023, one student had striking words to share in a course evaluation: “I don’t feel safe in this classroom,” they wrote, adding that “judgment and rejection” came from the two instructors. “This makes me shut down.” One of those instructors was Quinn Hafen, then a Ph.D. student at Colorado State and now an assistant professor at the University of Wyoming. Hafen, who uses they/them pronouns, was surprised by the comment. Their counterpart, a senior instructor named Marie Villescas Zamzow, was not. She receives this sort of comment every semester. “I can actually predict who’s going to write that it’s not a safe learning environment,” she said, according to a re...

Hoax Active Shooter Calls Spread Fear Across College Campuses Nationwide

By The Associated Press | The Gazette A rash of hoax calls about active shooters on college campuses has spread fear among students around the country as the school year begins at institutions of higher learning. A rash of hoax calls about active shooters on college campuses — some featuring gunshots sounding in the background — has sent waves of fear among students around the nation as the school year begins. The calls have prompted universities to issue campuswide texts to “run, hide, fight.” Students and teachers have rushed to find cover, often cowering in classrooms for safety. Officers have swarmed campuses seeking out the threat. Yet in every recent case, the threat didn’t exist. The University of Colorado in Boulder received one of the calls Monday, along with several o...

Hate or free speech? CMU students react to local Turning Point USA polls

By Jen Schumann | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice Few things stir debate on college campuses like politics—and at CMU, a student group’s whiteboard polls have done just that. Turning Point USA’s Colorado Mesa University chapter (TPUSA CMU) has sparked discussion after posting a series of provocative whiteboard poll questions in the university’s cafeteria.  Some students view the questions as open discussion starters, while others see them as hate speech meant to provoke. “Some of the questions pertaining to immigrants and other situations going on, you have to understand a lot of people are going through this personally,” CMU student Welam Agamba told KKCO 11 News. Founded by Charlie Kirk in 2012, TPUSA is known for challenging anti-American perspectives on colle...

Murray: From college campuses to Afghanistan, we let Islamic terrorism rise again

By Douglas Murray | Commentary, New York Post Let’s all give a big shout-out to the “Globalize the intifada” crowd. You got your way! Congratulations. Hope it feels good. For years, citizens of Israel have had maniac jihadists driving at them and trying to mow them down on their streets. But this got only cheers from the dolts on US college campuses and New York street protesters. Then, just before Christmas, Germany again got a taste of this “intifada.” That was when a Saudi immigrant decided to plow a vehicle through a previously happy Christmas market. He killed five people and injured almost 200.
