New Centennial Stadium Welcomes Denver Summit and Soccer Star Lindsey Heaps

Centennial Stadium will open its gates for the first time Saturday as the Denver Summit plays the Portland Thorns. The 12,000-seat stadium, which recently finished construction, is set to be the Summit’s home for at least a couple seasons. Until now, the team has been playing most of its home games in Commerce City.  Resale tickets for the debut Centennial match are available from $73. The match will stream on Paramount+ and air on CBS. The Thorns are among the National Women’s Soccer League’s best teams, with an 8-3-4 record, while the Summit lag the pack at 4-4-5. ‘Biology Matters’: El Paso County Schools Join Lawsuit Defending Girls’ Sports

By Eric Young | The Gazette Another prominent school district and a prominent charter school in El Paso County are taking on the state over a newly adopted athletics policy. Academy D-20’s Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt a resolution to direct the district to draft and implement a policy classifying access to locker rooms, restrooms and athletic participation as being based on biological sex during a special meeting June 17. Two days later, the board voted to authorize D-20 to join a lawsuit filed by neighboring D-49 against Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, the Colorado Civil Rights Division and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) last month.
