Denver’s 2028 Convention Bid Advances as Democrats Narrow Field to Three Cities

Democrats on Thursday narrowed the list of potential host cities for their 2028 presidential convention to Boston, Denver and Philadelphia as their party looks ahead to a wide-open primary to succeed President Donald Trump. Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement the cities put forward “incredibly strong bids,” and he promised the convention would be an “inspiring celebration of our party’s future nominee.” Denver Mayor Mike Johnston celebrated the news. “We are honored that Denver has advanced as one of the top three candidates to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention,” he said in a writt...

High Court Removes Limits on Party Coordination With Federal Candidates

By Shannon Ogden | Denver7 The ruling allows national parties to make direct contributions to candidate campaigns and is expected to give Republicans a short-term financial advantage. The Supreme Court struck down limits on how much political parties can spend in coordination with candidates for Congress and president. The limits had been in place to prevent large donors from circumventing caps on contributions to a candidate by directing money to a party with the understanding the money would be spent for that candidate. The ruling means national parties will now be able to make direct contributions to candidate campaigns. David Hogg says the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is trying to “fast-track” his removal as vice chair. The party insists it’s just following procedure.
