Socialist Surge Raises Alarm Among Denver Business Leaders

By Kristine Parks, Julia Bonavita and Nikolas Lanum | Fox News Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce President JJ Ament worries more regulations will hurt small businesses. Affordability was a top concern among voters who helped launch democratic socialist congressional candidate Melat Kiros to victory in Denver's Democratic primary in June over 15-term incumbent Diana DeGette.  But as democratic socialists gain momentum in Colorado, business owners are grappling with how their progressive policies may collide with the actual costs of running a business in Denver. "With DSA specifically, I think that, too many times, the rhetoric sounds great until it meets the economic realities," J.J. Ament, president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber o...

DSA wants Medicare for All as Medicare itself nears insolvency

By Chris Talgo | Commentary, Townhall AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson The Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) recently released “Workers Deserve More” program is full of silly policies that will probably never come to full fruition, fortunately. However, one of the more “mainstream” policies of the program, Medicare for All, absolutely could become the law of the land.  Medicare for All is popular because it drips empathy and means different things to people. There is no distinct definition. To some, it means a single-payer system. To others, it means providing subsidies to those who cannot afford healthcare.  Specifically, the DSA’s Medicare for All plan would “guarantee universal healthcare at no cost to individuals, including complete access to repro...

Hillman: Democratic Socialism is about control

By Mark Hillman | Commentary, Capitol Review Democratic Socialists are cruising through Democratic Party primaries like a hot knife through butter. Entitled young adults, especially, respond to their angst-driven message, frustrated that expensive college degrees landed them entry-level jobs easily attained without a six-figure education. Here in Colorado, Melat Kiros’ decisive win over 30-year incumbent Diana DeGette led a socialist wave in Denver that also saw a first-term centrist legislator ousted by a DSA challenger. U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper did fend off a challenge by state Sen. Julie Gonzales, but the former two-term governor and mayor of Denver, lost to Gonzales in Denver by 13,000 votes. And in Congressional District 8, social-media obsessed state Rep....

Socialist Backed Candidates Continue to Build Momentum in 2026

By: Newt Gingrich | Gingrich 360 The recent surge in endorsements by the Democratic Socialists of America for various electoral races — congressional, state, and local — is cause for concern. This year, the Democratic Socialists of America has endorsed 29 candidates for the House of Representatives. Of these, 11 have been defeated in their primaries, seven have won, and 11 are still awaiting their primaries. The importance of these endorsements lies in the positions held by some of these candidates. Here are a few examples of the candidates and their viewpoints: Melat Kiros, a former attorney, defeated 30-year incumbent Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette for Colorado’s 1st Congressional District. Endorsed by both the DSA, Denver DSA, and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Kir...

A union pipeline DSA built on college campuses

By Shaina Cole | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice DSA's youth section trains students to organize on campus. What happens after graduation is its own story, one its own members describe directly. "YDSA's job is to train socialists on campus and create a pipeline into DSA," Dare Cima, a University of Louisville YDSA member, said at the organization's national conference this spring. "We should be preparing members to enter strategic sectors of the labor movement after college. That means encouraging people to become teachers, nurses, engineers, logistics workers, and preparing them to organize in those fields." More than 400 people attended that conference.  Gerica Noerdinger, cochair of YDSA's Youth Labor Committee, said more than 65 percent of them signed ple...

Democratic Socialism Is Communism With Better Branding

By: Cheryl K. Chumley | Commentary, The Washington Times A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday found 47% of Americans say they don’t understand what it means to be a democratic socialist. Meanwhile, a Washington Post/Ipsos poll released a few days earlier found 39% of U.S. adults would consider voting for a democratic socialist for president. For the sake of the low-information voter — and by the looks of recent polling, there are quite a few of them — let’s clarify that democratic socialism is one and the same as socialism. Moreover, socialism is one and the same as communism. And since today’s Democrat Party has ceded its political power to the democratic socialist crowd, and the Democratic Socialists of America influences, then it’s clear a vo...

What DSA teaches college students, and the environment it operates in

By Shaina Cole | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice DSA's own internal survey shows something specific: more than 80 percent of members 25 and older who responded hold a bachelor's degree. DSA's youth section has spent the last decade building a structured campus operation, with its own curriculum, its own labor strategy, and in at least one Colorado classroom, a university course built to recruit. That operation runs through Young Democratic Socialists of America, DSA's youth and student section.  Join YDSA and you're automatically a DSA member too. It has grown rapidly over the past decade and is, by its own account, the place where a lot of its future organizers get their start. YDSA has grown from roughly a dozen chapters in 2016 to more than 150 today, s...

Denver DSA member joined Cuba delegation now mentioned in State Department report

By Shaina Cole | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice Forty members of the Democratic Socialists of America flew to Cuba last October. They brought school and medical supplies. They toured a hospital and a primary school. Both of the organization's national co-chairs went, along with nine other members of its governing body. One of them came from Denver. DSA's International Committee published photos of the October 2025 Cuba delegation at a primary school and hospital in Havana. (Source: international.dsausa.org) That trip is now part of a 100-page report the State Department released Monday, titled "Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism." Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced it himself, writing on X that "the Cuban regime has been the leading spo...

Colorado Socialist Nominee Calls for More Immigrants to Hold Public Office

By: Chris Bradford | New York Post The anti-Israel Gen-Z socialist who ousted 15-term Colorado rep Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) has called for more immigrants to be elected into office so America’s “exploitative” role on the world stage can be combated. Ethiopian-born Ph.D student Melat Kiros – who wildly claimed the elimination of Israel isn’t antisemitic – told Denver’s Wa-Ela Tigray diaspora gathering earlier this month there needs to be “more people who have heritage in the global south.” Kiros, a member of the radical Democratic Socialists of America, spoke about the challenges of being an insurgent candidate before warning those already in power they have a responsibility to make it easier for their successors when it comes to running for office. ...

Democratic Socialists Unveil Platform Targeting Presidency Supreme Court and Free Markets

By: Skye Graham | The Federalist DSA candidates are currently surging in America, winning major elections across the country. The group that dictates the tenor of the Democrat Party has radical plans for America, which include getting rid of the presidency and the Supreme Court. The Democratic Socialists of America is a far-left organization that appeals to the struggle of the working class while pushing far-left candidates. The organization has recently unveiled a new platform that would destroy the American system and radically remake it. DSA candidates are currently surging in America, winning major elections across the country. Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier — both DSA members — won their Democrat primaries in New York City, making them almos...
