Valor Christian Mourns Beloved Coach Who Passed Just After State Title Win

By: Jesse Sarles | CBS Colorado A Colorado community is mourning the loss of a legendary Colorado athlete and coach. Jayne Gibson-McHugh died over the weekend from cancer. She was the volleyball coach at Valor Christian High School. McHugh's death came soon after the Eagles won their fourth straight 5A state title. They are the first girls' volleyball team from the 5A classification to win four straight state championships. The Colorado High School Activities Association shared a photo online showing McHugh's hand holding the game ball from Saturday night's championship game not long before she died. One person remains at large. The 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said that the crime ring is responsible for over $828,880 in stolen property and $39,880 in damaged property, impacting more than 55 victims. An Indiana-based developer, The Garrett Companies, is vying to purchase the current site of Flying Saucer RV Park, a year-round park with more than 150 lots. If the deal closes, the park would be cleared out to make way for new housing. Many of the RV park’s residents have made the location their permanent home. “I just don’t know the answer as to what we would do if we received an eviction notice,” said Steve Ohlfest, who has lived at Flying Saucer RV Park for 20 years. Wallethub took a look at the median auto-loan balance of over 2,500 U.S. cities, noting that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s latest report on household indebtedness showed auto-loan balances increased by $13 billion in the second quarter of 2025. The organization used TransUnion data as of March 2025 to divide the median car-loan debt by residents’ income in each of the cities. The median income in each city was based on 2023 earnings of individuals over 15 years old who worked full-time, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Denver housing sales tracking at slower pace as inventory hits highest since 2011

By Andrew Kenney | Denverite There were 14,000 single-family homes, condos and townhomes for sale around the Denver metro at the end of July.  That meant homebuyers had more options than at any time since 2011 — though it was only a slight increase in inventory from the month before, according to the latest report from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors. Housing inventory is piling up because homes are selling more slowly. Just a few years ago, most homes were selling in under a week. But the typical single-family home now takes 20 days to sell, and some sit around much longer.  The DMAR report covers 11 counties around Denver, including Boulder, Jefferson, Douglas, Adams and Arapahoe.
