DOGE sparks international government efficiency push

By Amac The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has taken Washington D.C. by storm, dominating the news cycle and discussions on Capitol Hill. But the impact of President Donald Trump’s waste-cutting initiative may soon be felt internationally as well. Reducing the size and power of government bureaucracies has become an increasingly popular trend among global conservatives in recent years, a phenomenon perhaps most colorfully displayed by Argentine President Javier Milei. During his captivating run for office in 2023, Milei famously used a chainsaw as a metaphor for what he planned to do to his country’s bloated bureaucracy. But while Milei became an internet sensation and invigorated conservatives, it is Trump’s war on “waste, fraud, and abuse” that is leading the way. As...

RMV Contributor: When public office becomes a family business on the taxpayer’s dime

By RMV Contributor | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Elon Musk has exposed the grift of the politically-connected who abuse their access and offices to convert public dollars to private gain using tax-funded, non-governmental organizations (NGOs, typically non-profits). We have uncovered a local politician here in Colorado who appears to be doing this – and both she and several family members are benefitting financially. The politician in question is Lorena Garcia, the state house lawmaker for District 35, representing parts of Adams and Jefferson Counties.  Garcia was appointed to the Colorado legislature in early January 2023 after Adrienne Benavidez resigned for unspecified reasons (the mess created by questionable resignations and vacancy appointments in Colorado i...

Trump asks DOGE to review states’ voter database maintenance practices

By The Denver Gazette The Trump administration has tapped the Department of Government Efficiency to review states' practices to maintain their voter databases, part of a new move by the White House to strictly enforce the ban on non-citizens voting in federal elections.    The new White House memo authorized DOGE and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to issue subpoenas, presumably to access the states' maintenance systems. Colorado officials are calling the memo an "unlawful" order that would "undermine" American democracy. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DENVER GAZETTE

Tristan: Is Trump administration’s DOGE cutting waste or slashing jobs?

By George Tristan | Guest Columnist, Rocky Mountain Voice In November 2002, I was informed I would be terminated from a well-paying position at Hewlett-Packard. The HP layoffs (approximately 30,000 employees) were prompted by volatile industry turmoil (Dotcom bust) and a merger with Compaq. The 10 years of employment at HP were some of the very best of my career. HP, at that time, was the darling of the Silicon Valley empire, as the Palo Alto garage where Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard started the fledgling company is a California landmark and considered by many the birthplace of the high-tech industry.  This dramatic upheaval in the telecommunications industry resulted in a labor market flooded with unemployed IT professionals. With few options, I accepted a management position ...

Postal Service signs cost-cutting deal with DOGE

By  Lauren Irwin | The Hill The United States Postal Service said it has signed a deal with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut costs at the agency. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy told congressional leaders in a letter that he had signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s DOGE to cut jobs and spending at the agency that has long lost money. DeJoy said the organization has spent the past four years transforming from a “battered government bureaucracy” that experienced financial losses into a higher quality service, but it is still not achieving its goals. DOGE is terminating $9.4M in leases across Colorado

By Maddie Rhodes | Fox31 News Government agencies nationwide are experiencing spending cuts and layoffs with billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, and leases for property across Colorado are on the list. DOGE posted a “Wall of Receipts” on its website, listing contract, grant and lease cancellations. Over $9.4 million in leases are included, totaling 355,000 square feet. FOX31 matched the list to the U.S. General Services Administration’s inventory of federal government leases, which provided additional information, including addresses. Though ‘an incredible success,’ President Trump unveils plans for DOGE head Musk to work more closely with cabinet

By Ryan King | New York Post President Trump revealed plans for cabinet secretaries and other high-level administration officials to hold more sway in the Department of Government Efficiency’s push for personnel cuts. Cabinet officials will meet with DOGE every two weeks until the administration has wrapped up its efforts to revamp the federal workforce, Trump announced, while lauding special government employee Elon Musk’s efforts as “an incredible success.” “Now that we have my Cabinet in place, I have instructed the Secretaries and Leadership to work with DOGE on Cost Cutting measures and Staffing,” Trump announced on Truth Social. Pentagon replies to DOGE ‘5 bullets’ request with details of ‘action-packed, America first week’

By Hannah Nightingale | The Post Millennial Pentagon Chief Spokesman Sean Parnell on Friday morning released the first weekly situation report, outlining key events that occurred during the week at the Department of Defense. The report was posted to X Friday morning, tagging Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, and addressed to America’s “warfighters, and the American taxpayers," saying, "This is what we did this week," a callback to the email sent to federal employees by Musk over the weekend asking them to include five things they accomplished in the prior week. Parnell outlined the five things the Department of Defense accomplished over the past week, which was an "action-packed, America First week," the first being the nomination of Lieutenant General Dan "R...

Tom Homan wants to double ICE footprint in sanctuary cities. Elon Musk is helping him get there

By Audrey Fahlberg | National Review The Department Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) cost-cutting efforts have roiled Washington in recent weeks, but according to President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, Elon Musk is committed to growing, rather than shrinking, at least one part of the federal government: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “I talked to Elon Musk yesterday, he's trying to help us hire more agents,” Homan told National Review in a wide-ranging interview on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Oxon Hill, Md. “I’ve actually talked to him about how to create efficiencies in the recruiting process and the ... Official admits Dept. Of Education is spending tax dollars on illegals and dodging DOGE oversight

By Logan Washburn | The Federalist Department of Education staff remove citizenship requirements from legislation, offer programs to illegal immigrants, and are using a messaging app to avoid oversight from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), according to an undercover video published Feb. 20 by Project Veritas. “If Congress actually knew that we don’t ask that [citizenship status], there would be a lot of, probably, a lot of uproar,” said DOE Branch Chief Travis Combs. “You know how they have like sanctuary cities? We would be a sanctuary program where we’re spending federal dollars on illegal immigrants.” Ignoring Citizenship Combs is a branch chief in the DOE’s office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, according to LinkedIn. He said in the video...
