President Trump: ‘I was shot … I heard a whizzing sound, shots and immediately felt the bullet’

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice An assassin's bullet missed its mark Saturday, but nonetheless hit former President Donald J. Trump at his campaign rally in Butler, Penn. Just moments into his speech gunfire could be heard and Mr. Trump went down behind the podium from which he was speaking. "I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear," Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform. "I knew immediately that something was wrong, in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening." He made note of the U.S. Secret Service team "for their rapid response on the shooting." Unconfirmed media reports indicate an AR-style rifle ...

Rep. Boebert: ‘Praying for President Trump’

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Moments into former President Donald J. Trump's campaign rally in Butler, Penn., Saturday, Mr. Trump was apparently struck by gunfire. He went to the ground behind the podium from where he was speaking, and when he rose Mr. Trump had blood on his face and seeming to come from the top of his ear. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, one of his strongest allies and who holds Mr. Trump's endorsement for re-election, called it evil on Twitter moments later. "We are praying for President Trump and the nation tonight," Boebert said. In a series of posts on Twitter, she evoked Isaiah 54:17: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." She called to pray for Mr. Trump and the people of Butler, Penn. "Throughout history, those who hate God and embra...

President Trump rushed away following assassination attempt at Butler, Penn., rally

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice The sound of multiple gunshots rang out Saturday at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Penn., split seconds before he seemed to reach for his right ear and went to the ground behind the podium from which Mr. Trump was speaking. He was quickly surrounded by numerous Secret Service agents. As Mr. Trump asked the crowd if he could go "off-script", he presented a chart of border crossing data and the sound of gunfire could be heard on the broadcast. When the Secret Service allowed him up to be rushed to a vehicle, Mr. Trump appeared to have blood on his face and from the ear, but no other noticeable injury. He pumped his fist to the crowd in a defiant act presumed to indicate he was not seriously harmed and seemed to say, "Fight! Fi...

Is Trump eyeing an Apprentice-style VP reveal at convention? Even his closest aides claim not to know pick

By MERIDITH MCGRAW and NATALIE ALLISON | Politico Donald Trump’s aides are discussing having the former president reveal his running mate on stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday night, according to two people familiar with the planning. The planning is still fluid, aides stressed. The finalists are expected to be at the convention, and if Trump decides to keep quiet over the weekend, there could be a reality show-style reveal on the convention’s opening night. It would be a dramatic end to his monthslong casting call for a running mate. The choice remains so closely held that even his top advisers insist they remain uncertain about who Trump will pick. RNC Chair Michael Whatley promises convention showcasing Trump’s strength, Biden’s weakness

By Seth McLaughlin | The Washington Times The head of the Republican National Committee says the challenges confronting Democrats this election cycle run far deeper than President Biden’s physical health. Michael Whatley, who took over the RNC in March, said the intense focus on Mr. Biden’s cognitive decline discounts the depth to which the Democratic vision has turned off voters of all stripes. “There’s not a single Democrat that they’re going to put in place of Joe Biden that’s going to change a single one of the policies that have absolutely crushed American families,” Mr. Whatley told The Washington Times in an interview Thursday. Harless: Democrats’ lies about Project 2025 is fearmongering campaign aimed at smearing Trump, helping Biden

By MONROE HARLESS | Commentary, The Federalist Democrat officials have launched a disinformation campaign about the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, misattributing policies nowhere to be found in the project and falsely linking them to former President Donald Trump. The project is a policy roadmap for a future Republican administration created by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, and outlined in a nearly 1,000-page document highlighting long-held conservative priorities. The left’s fearmongering campaign comes amidst panic in the Democratic Party, which has fractured over Biden’s cognitive decline and abysmal election polling. “[Project 2025] is a dangerous takeover by Trump and his allies to pass his extreme MAGA agenda,” Biden recently sa...

Kirk: To secure the White House in 2024, we must win low-propensity voters

By CHARLIE KIRK | The Daily Caller As the media world and D.C. insiders become increasingly transfixed by the fallout from President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance, it becomes more important than ever that the conservative movement remains steadfastly focused on the most important things — namely, registering voters and chasing their ballots. This is the hard work that wins elections in our modern era and that has quite literally flipped conventional election logic on its head. To that end, there is a term you are going to hear more and more this summer and fall as the key factor in former President Donald Trump’s hopes of retaking the White House: “Low-propensity voter.” READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT THE DAILY CALLER Editor's note: Opinions expressed in co...

Trump throws down challenge for ‘no holds barred’ debate with Biden

By Elaine Mallon | Washington Examiner On Independence Day, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to challenge President Joe Biden to a second presidential debate.  Biden’s performance in the Atlanta debate has called into question the president’s cognitive ability, with one reporter asking White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if he suffered from Alzheimer’s.  Biden and his campaign team have acknowledged that he had a rough showing in the debate. Independence Day: Some cite Reagan, Trump, but Gardner goes way back to Adams in Twitter greetings

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice While Coloradans were enjoying parades, rodeos and cookouts in celebration Thursday of Independence Day, elected Republican officials past, present and possibly future turned to Twitter. For those not binge-watching Yellowstone re-runs, Twitter was filled with their personal thoughts and quotations, as could be expected, by Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, and unexpectedly by novelist William Faulkner. The occasion drew former U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner to get more creative, citing the country's co-drafter of the Declaration of Independence, the first vice president, first occupant of the White House and the country's only Federalist president: John Adams. Gardner encouraged Coloradans and Americans to, as Adams had said in 1776, "Ce...

York: Biden’s big Dirty Harry ‘make my day’ bluff was called by Trump

By Byron York | Washington Examiner BIDEN’S BIG BLUFF. Until a week ago, President Joe Biden seemingly had the age issue under control. Yes, he had senior moments, some of which were quite severe, such as the episode at the White House Juneteenth concert in which he weirdly froze for two minutes, silent, eyes fixed straight ahead, body absolutely motionless. But commentary on such moments was mostly confined to a few news outlets. Much of the White House press corps seemed to accept the Biden press handlers’ explanation that the stories were “cheap fakes” created by Republicans to hurt the president politically. It’s hard to understand why any observant reporter would accept such an explanation, but some did. Everyone knew that polls showed large majorities of vot...
