18 flagged for deportation after Colorado Springs nightclub raid, 86 remain in ICE custody

Denver Gazette A spokesperson with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed that 18 people who were taken into custody on April 27 as part of a major raid on an unlicensed Colorado Springs nightclub had previously been ordered to be deported. According to the ICE spokesperson Thursday, 18 of the 104 individuals detained in the raid were “subject to a final order of removal.” The ICE website states: Once an individual receives a final order, ERO facilitates the individual’s safe return to his or her country of origin in accordance with U.S. immigration laws, as well as international commitments and any bilateral agreements which may be in place. Drug traffickers, with ties to Colorado, sentenced to prison in Oregon

By Tom Joyce | The Center Square An Oregon-based drug trafficking cell leader with ties to a large Mexico-based drug trafficking organization received a federal prison sentence this week after an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Horacio Luna-Perez, 42, of Hillsboro, Oregon, got a 97-month federal prison sentence and five years’ supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. Eagle County traffic stop results in recovery of guns, 23 pounds of cocaine

By Spencer McKee | Out There Colorado A traffic stop for a routine violation led to a "substantial" seizure of more than $300,000 worth of cocaine in Colorado's high country on July 17. According to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, the related traffic stop took place at about 8:00 p.m. last Wednesday on I-70 near Gypsum, which is a town located between Eagle and Glenwood Springs. Once the vehicle was pulled over on the side of the road, the driver, a 24-year-old from Chicago, was contacted by a uniformed deputy. At that point, the deputy noticed several indicators that were believed to have pointed to further criminal activity. Law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit, which delivered a positive alert. By Brett Rowland | The Center Square Former President Donald Trump said soft sentences for drug dealers have helped fuel fentanyl overdose deaths in the U.S.  Trump, 77, is running against President Joe Biden in the presidential election this November.  "So many are dying where they think they're getting something and going to have a little fun on a Friday night and all of sudden their dead," Trump said on Fox News.  "You'll never really solve the drug problem unless you do what other countries do – and that's the death penalty for drug dealers," Trump said during the interview.
