In new ad, Republican Jeff Hurd vows to prioritize expanding access to health care in rural Colorado

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics Republican congressional candidate Jeff Hurd hits the road to talk health care in a TV ad his campaign released Wednesday in Colorado's sprawling 3rd Congressional District. "I remember when mom got really sick with cancer, we had to travel out of state for help," says Hurd as he navigates a wide-open highway from behind the wheel of a pickup truck in the 30-second spot. "Today, some Coloradans have to travel for hours for even the most basic care. We can do better." Adds Hurd: "I'll make expanding health care access for rural Colorado a top priority. Protect Social Security and Medicare. I'll always remember who I'm fighting for." READ THE FULL STORY AT COLORADO POLITICS

It is a mystery why Trump supporters suffer odd medical condition after sitting behind former president at Arizona rally

By Stephen M. Lepore | Daily Mail Supporters of Donald Trump say they've suffered from mysterious eye injuries after sitting behind him at his rally in Tucson last week. At least half a dozen people said they were seated on stage behind Trump as the candidate addressed the spiraling cost of living crisis and unveiled a populist new policy, promising to end tax on overtime. But after the event they became afflicted with a mysterious malady. Some complained of dealing with irritation in their eyes and needed medical attention. READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT THE DAILY MAIL

DOJ’s new voter-roll guidance quietly issued; critic warns it may ‘intimidate’ election workers

By Jamie Joseph | Fox News The Department of Justice (DOJ) quietly published new guidelines addressing limits on when and how jurisdictions may remove voters from their voter rolls last week, a move to "intimidate" state and local election officials, says former DOJ attorney Gene Hamilton.  "This is what I perceive as an attempt by the Department of Justice and Civil Rights Division to intimidate state and local jurisdictions and state and local election officials from doing their jobs," Hamilton told Fox News Digital. The DOJ issued a new guidance document on Sept. 9 to remind states ahead of the election that "voting rolls must be accomplished in compliance with federal law and in a nondiscriminatory manner." Denver Councilman Darrell Watson opposes Initiative 309 slaughterhouse ban

By Rachel Gabel  | The Fence Post Denver voters will be asked to cast a vote on Initiative 309, which would ban slaughterhouses in the City and County of Denver. A diverse group of stakeholders convened Wednesday on the steps of Denver City and County Building to oppose the ban. The question posed to voters: Shall the voters of the City and County of Denver adopt an ordinance prohibiting slaughterhouses, and, in connection, beginning Jan. 1, 2026, prohibiting the construction, maintenance, or use of slaughterhouses within the city; and requiring the city to prioritize residents whose employment is affected by the ordinance in workforce training or employment assistance programs? While the question suggests multiple slaughterhouses, there is one operating in Denver, Superior Farms....

Candidates rally support at Delta County’s ‘Food and Freedom Forum’

By Jen Schumann | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice Conservative candidates and their supporters came together recently at the Delta County 'Food and Freedom Forum,’ hosted by Dave and Sue Whittlesey at High Wire Ranch.  Cedaredge resident Mark Hillen shared why the upcoming election is important and his reason for attending: “2024 is a pivotal year for our nation. We’re standing at a crossroads — one path leads us toward socialism, and the other offers a chance to preserve our republic."  Colorado State Representative Matt Soper agreed. "We’re becoming increasingly similar to California in terms of tax policy, but the passage of House Bill 24B-1001 was a significant victory for conservatives," he said. "The property tax cuts passed in the special session are tangible — real cu...

Hillary Clinton wants to jail Americans for ‘misinformation’

By John Daniel Davidson | The Federalist Clinton might want to think twice before proposing prosecutions for spreading Russian propaganda. No one has done that more than she has. Hillary Clinton went on MSNBC this week and told Rachel Maddow that she thinks Americans who spread “misinformation” and Russia propaganda should be prosecuted. In a conversation about the recent Justice Department indictment of several alleged Kremlin-run websites and Russian state media employees, Clinton said it’s important to indict Russians who interfere in our elections but there are also Americans “engaged in this kind of propaganda” and that if they were civilly or criminally charged it would be “a better deterrent” because it’s unlikely any Russians will ever stand trial in the United States. ...

Experts predict up to 2.7M votes will be cast by illegal immigrants

By Ben Johnson | The Daily Signal Do you plan to vote this November? You’re not alone. Experts say somewhere between 1.5 million and 2.7 million illegal immigrants are likely to cast a ballot in the 2024 elections, affecting races from dogcatcher to president of the United States. The historic flood of illegal immigrants during the Biden-Harris administration has also padded voter rolls, thanks to controversial federal legislation from the Clinton administration. If illegal immigrants and other noncitizens vote in the same proportion as in previous U.S. elections, the number will range anywhere from 1.5 million to nearly 3 million votes. “A 2014 academic journal found that 6.4% of noncitizens voted in 2008,” Kerri Toloczko, executive director of Election Integ...

Denver’s fur ban initiative has fly-fishers and cowboy hat makers worried too

By Joe Rubino | Denver 7, via The Denver Post The Denver Fur Ban is a succinct title for a ballot measure. But opponents of the November initiative say its effects will be anything but simple, and they prefer to wrangle with specifics when they make their points. Initiated Ordinance 308 — which seeks to prohibit the manufacturing, sale, trade and display of select fur products — would have a raft of consequences that go beyond prohibiting retailers in the Mile High City from selling fox and raccoon fur coats, those opponents say. By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice A package containing white powder addressed to the Colorado Secretary of State's office has been intercepted at a state mail facility. Investigations by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Colorado State Patrol preliminarily indicate the powder included in the package is harmless. Often, investigations of such packages are found to be gypsum, a harmless white mineral common to chalk, drywall and plaster. “We cannot tolerate threats to election officials and public servants," said Colorado Sec...
