The agency's fire suppression helicopter responded to several calls, including a destructive brush fire in Byers Arapahoe County, a plane's emergency landing and three smoke checks. Gas leak in Fountain prompts road closure, shelter in place

According to an FFD Facebook post, a gas leak at a business along the 400 block of Santa Fe Avenue has prompted a closure of north and southbound Santa Fe Avenue.  Officials said a detour has been placed at Alabama Avenue and Mountain View Lane. Weld County issues disaster declaration for damages related to Northern Colorado flooding

By Jesse Sarles | CBS Colorado Two weeks after a severe storm moved across northeastern Colorado and brought hail and flooding, Weld County Commissioners have approved a disaster declaration. The intent is to request that state funds be used to help pay for recovery efforts. According to county officials, 279 homes and businesses and 77 government buildings and public infrastructure have been reported as damaged. The total damage is estimated at over $3 million. The storm brought a month's worth of precipitation to the eastern Greeley and the surrounding areas in a period of about two hours. Two inches of hail were measures in Greeley. By Austen Erblat | CBS Colorado Firefighters found and rescued a cat that went missing during a blaze that damaged several cars and townhouse units in a Denver suburb. The fire was first reported around 5:20 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of South Reed Street in Lakewood. The fire occurred in a northwest Denver neighborhood, near 39th Avenue and Clay Street. One firefighter was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but no civilians were injured. Pueblo steel mill fire prompts pre-evac notices, triggers air quality concerns

By Mary Shinn | Colorado Springs Gazette A fire broke out Friday afternoon at the EVRAZ steel mill in Pueblo sending up a thick column of black smoke that was blowing north.  The fire triggered a shelter-in-place order and pre-evacuation order for homes near the expansive mill along Interstate 25 on the southern end of town. Pueblo County public health officials issued a public health alert Friday evening, recommending all Pueblo residents stay indoors and avoid outdoor activity through Sunday morning due to the amount of smoke in the air from the EVRAZ fire and the Vision Hills Fire.  The EVRAZ Fire broke out in a building primarily used for staging and storage and all employees evacuated safely, according to a statement from EVRAZ North America.
